ps3interface

We've come a long way to guessing and groping for the PS3's interface -- but exactly what do we have in there? It really doesn't matter that you're buying it or not, but you can check out the video here to see a little more of Sony's little next-gen marvel. Sony has finally revealed a full list of interface icons in its Japanese PS3. The image above is captured via Gizmodo. You can see that each icon actually corresponds to the following list:
  • User: Save your game data and browser preferences for each individual user.
  • Settings: Make using the XMB (Cross Media Bar) convenient with individual settings for sound, BD/DVD, time/date, music, network, chat, display, security, etc.
  • Photo: View slideshows in full HD. Download pictures as well.
  • Music: Listen to CDs or Super Audio CDs on the Multi-Channel. Play music on the HDD.
  • Video: Enjoy full HD with Blu-ray Disc. It tops out at 7.1 ch.
  • Game: Play PSX/PS2 games on the PS3.
  • Network: Connect to your PLAYSTATION Network account, download and hit the PLAYSTATION Store. There's an icon for "Remote Play" as well.
  • Friend: Add buddies to your friends' list, check your message box and chat.
It's not hard to imagine that if you do buy a PS3, you may be seeing the PS3 interface even in your sleep!

Good Luck to #5

#5 Good luck! The PS3 isn't Intel or PPC, so Mac OS X would be impossible. Of course, you could always emulate or wait for Apple to release a PS3 version :O

PS3 or PSP?

That looks pretty much like the PSP menu. Real creative Sony!

Ummmmm

Is it just me, or does that look really effing bad? The Japanese are not where the big money is Sony, don't make a menu catered to them. Normal people don't want a house with a smiley face on it...
