PS3: Japan's New Year hard-sell

We've already heard that Sony sold about 750,000 units of the PS3 by the end of the year here in the U.S. Now, ever wondered just how many units are being sold in Japan? We were wondering too, until we picked up these flickr pictures taken by pokemogu at Yodobashi.

We're looking at several piles of PS3s still waiting for buyers. Strange though - given the initial shopping spurt the console picked up, we were hoping that this New Year's going to look better for Sony's contender. We're sure a lot of people would love to get their hands on this console - but just find that its initial price tag to be all too intimidating. But like we said, we're not about to count it out yet.

It's just the start of the new year, and as the old movie cliche goes "It's only the beginning."

This story sucks? This story rocks!

i always forget QJ has turned into a ps3 bashing site.. my bro is a ninty extreme fan and he loves this site..

oh yeah.. by theyway... when you writers talk about prices for stuff could you stop comparing it to ps3 and making a joke about it?

This place would be so much better.

SONY is constantly shipping thousands of units in every region. Stores get their units at least twice in a week.

So how hard is it to make a picture of many consolesin store at once? It's not, cause they are being shipped there constantly.

This site is so bad, and slow as hell too. It seems that quality of articles is equal to quality of the technical side of this site.

I have to admit above posters have a point. So many articles lately are "spun" with "ps3 is dead" view, only they throw a "it's not dead yet" disclaimer on the end.

I was quite surprised yesterday when I saw an old engadget article stating how the Xbox 360 had sold worse than the Xbox originally did in Japan, the article stayed neutral and informative, ultimately wishing Microsoft all the best.

Lately whenever I've seen a PS3 article it contains nothing but slander, although to be fair this particular article merely says that there are some PS3's available in Japan, not slander based upon it.

Sony will get it's good news days.

But they isn't a whole lot of positive news about the PS3 at the moment. Let's face it, it's expensive, there's not a lot of games for it, and most people are going to waiting for cheaper prices and better games.

I don't think QJ should censor the news just to make you sony fans happy.

QJ aren't responsible for PS3 launch delays, production issues, non-exist HD cables, extremely short charge cables, framerate issues, ps2 backwards compatibility issues, scaling issues, loss of exclusives, rumors from other sources about possible lost exclusives, or the slow down of demand in the US and Japan.

They're just reporting the news.

Out of the next gen systems PS3 is only second to wii, the 360 will be a distant third in about a month. Looks like a one year lead isn't as good as we thought.

Now this website has turned into another "PS3 is doomed" basher. When did all videogame talk turn into a daily account of who is supposedley winning the next gen wars, I thought it was about the videogames. Yeah QJ doesn't know what its doing anymore. I see enough PS3 bashing on the Wii and 360 sections of every site but now on our PS3 section we get the bashing from QJ as well. I can't wait till the PS3 starts picking up steam and all this bs can subside. Please stop reporting negative stories QJ. This is my favorite site for PS3 news but its getting on my nerves. Those PS3's are on the shelf because of a massive shipment by Sony. They won't stay on the shelf more than a week.

NEWS? NEWS? What news do you even have?!

All you are doing is picking at hairs here. You're site has no real news. All you do is report or link to news other major gaming or tech sites have published. You're site is nothing more than paperboy, who tells us about how IGN.com has a new article on the PS3.

That still doesn't save you from the fact that most of your articles are biased, whether it be for or against the PS3. Your "reporters" have no ability to remain objective, at all. Furthermore the articles you're "journalists/reporters" do write are contribute nothing to the console community, and only further the deprived, slow, and dead state that QJ has always been in. The following has to be said again and again:The only thing this site is good for, is for getting links to news other news sites have posted.

As such, those that have authority over this site should reconsider the direction they are taking QJ. It can be asked that why QJ in even bothers to hire these low-talented journalists. In fact it would be far more profitable, if QJ just let go of all its "journalists" (the term is used very lightly) and became a simple blog, that links to news posted on other sites. It can be said that this needs to be done for the very survival of QJ. For as it is now, your "journalists" are already driving away the devoted fans QJ has now.

In conclusion, it should be known to all who visit this site, that qj, is nothing more than a collection of low-talented "journalists" that only report articles from other news sites, with a strong bias. Furthermore even when they do create their own articles, it's a pathetic attempt at journalism, and can be dismised as nothing more than a collection of utterly boring, and insignificant thoughts/opinions from and utterly insignificant mind. So upon reading this site, one can only ask it's loyal, devoted fans, do you really want to come to this site tomorrow, don't you deserve better?

oh yeah...i forgot the main reason.... to pick fights with other fanboys and create a huge discussion with Mr. Common Sense, ahaha, Devise, and other 360 fans. thats the best part.
