PS3 homebrew - ZeroGame v0.50 released, a multi-console emulator for the PS3

Great news to all PS3 phat owners, homebrew coder zerojay has recently released a new version of ZeroGame, an easy-to-use multi-console emulator for the PlayStation 3 under Yellow Dog Linux. More info after the jump.

Developer's note:

The project is a confluence of a number of different programs working behind the scenes on top of an optimized install of yellow dog linux 6.2. The great aspect of this project is that the only effort required by you is to install yellow dog linux then install The Zerogame Project; that is it. No hunting down various emulators for various systems then tweaking and configuring each. No configuring bluetooth for the sixaxis or dualshock 3. No need to learn a new operating system. Just follow zerojays txt guide. After the install you dont even need to touch a keyboard every thing can be controlled from the 6A/DS3. Note: the program is in beta at 0.5 so it still has kinks and is a work in progress.

What is zerogame?

Over the last year or so, I've been tweaking and changing my installation of Yellow Dog Linux on my PS3 so that it would be more emulation-friendly. My goal was to get my install as close as I could to the friendliness of the Xbox emulators, with a game list and a few button presses and the game of your choice is up on the screen. It's been a long journey, but a fruitful one.

zerogame is a bash shell script that will take a freshly installed copy of Yellow Dog Linux 6.2 on your PS3 and with a few minutes and occasional input from you will give you one good emulation box that you can boot up whenever you feel like playing some classics.

What do I need?

Yellow Dog Linux 6.2 freshly installed on your PS3

A working internet connection

An HDTV that supports 1080p or 720p (480p/i and 576p/i support in the future)

A wired USB keyboard

One or more Sony Sixaxis/Dualshock3 controllers

i cant get my ps3 under linux to see my router.
its a dumb actiontec.
so ive tried mutliple times and figured out i either need to wait on ydl to fix this with there linux.
or buy a new router that it can read easier
if anyone in the colorado area could help id greatly appreciate it.. this is something ive wanted for my ps3 since day one. and i just cant wrap my head around getting linux to like my router.

I'm still a long way off wanting to hard mod a Ps3 or 360 yet because homebrew is still so ridiculously basic, i still got my Xbox original connected up to tv and it stays there untill they properly hacked.

this isn't a hard mod at all.
if even a mod.
the ps3 is allowed to run linux. many of these emulators have been on linux for a while now.
someone just combines them into a single program.
there anyone in colorado that can help me get my router to work with my ps3's linux so i can this

same here, I don't want to risk a ban from PSN so the xbox 1 stays hooked up (best modded system IMO, aside from the pesky FTP process)

That's hella awesome!

I never bothered with installing YDL on my PS3 but this simple emulation of old systems ala this method is really enticing. Sadly my HD space is shrinking like you wouldn't believe... may have to wait till when I upgrade from 250 to 500gb.

There are hard mods for PS3? Or is the homebrew lacking on PS3 because there is no way run HBC on it. This little program is awesome though takes care of 90% of what I want a hacked console to do. Which is to run emulators.

Ever heard of a little device called an XBox - Pretty shitty really, until you mod with XBMC (XBox Media Center). If we could mod the PS3 - I would so learn to Program, just to put a Program like that on it - it is SOOOOOOO MUCH MORE than emulators my friend - It's my home media Hub (Yes, i use it for video much more than my PS3 - even does 720p with it's pussy 800mhz celeron).

Hopefully neo-geo support is added in the future, other than that is has basically all you need.

i dont see the point of emulating RETRO games onto the ps3. lol, i can already do that on my psp cfw. i wana see some emulation that wud do ps2 games / pc games.
now that would be an achievement. but this...

you can either do that on a PC or a PSP or any handheld with emulation support LOOL

i've been running on ydl 6.1
i tried doing a wired connection and no dice
and the wireless never seems to connect. read lots of problems with that
if theres anyone in the colorado area please messege me @
