PS3 homebrew - SNES9x PS3 Build 4.3

Want to try out some old school SNES games on your PS3? Well, check out the latest update of eiz's Super Nintendo Entertainment System emulator port for the PS3, SNES9x Build 4.3.

Developer's note:
To build:

Install Cell SDK >= 1.92. You know how to find it. Configure according to the install instructions (make sure to set CELL_SDK).
make pkg
Load the pkg and your ROMs onto a usb drive.
Install on PS3 using your jailbreak device of choice.

Things that suck:

Lots of snes9x features are not supported yet. No save states, for example. Most of these are really simple to implement.
Sound code is rubbish. It more or less works, but you'll probably hear the occasional skip.
Performance isn't great.
UI. Or rather, there isn't one.
So much more.

Coming from someone who modded a wii it makes a lot of difference to play a snes in 1080P then it does when playing at 480P.

Trust me with the filters and sample rates it'll make a huge difference in game play. Playing a snes in its original cable sucks on a 42 inch.

Now we need a n64 emulator for the ps3, now that console sucked big ones on a lcd of any size over 19inch...

Oh and the ps3 controller is perfect for Snes games...

LOL. You do not know anything... It is the same shit, since the game is designed for old tvs, the PS3 also runs it on 480p, which looks the same as on the wii.

question about this, how's the speed? the psp snes emu is a joke...nothing worthwhile runs good, mario rpg, dkc, metroid...they don't run good at all

The psp emu ran every game I cared for just fine.

Including Mario RPG. (with some tweaks)

Actually, he's marginally right. For some reason, the SNES emulator is the least polished one I've used.

Hell, the GBA emulator on the PSP is better than the SNES one, which is whack.

Just use a PC, it emulates almost every SNES game perfectly already. Homebrew on a console is stupid, homebrew on a handheld makes sense. Why would anyone want to play SNES games on a PS3 anyway, just go buy a SNES on ebay instead if that's what you really want.

Because SNES games beat today's games easily, better gameplay, better story and controls.

PS3 isn't even powered for 3D, 3D requires 1.4 HDMI and PS3 has 1.3 HDMI. Thus only 3D-ready at least.

But who the fuck cares about 3D games when you got these classics at the palm of your hand? Turd gamers.
