PS3 Media Server - Image 1Developer shagrath has released his update on his PS3 homebrew app, PS3 Media Server v1.0.2.1. It's actually a quickfix for this serious bug found in 1.02, which he released just the other day, which essentially prevents the application from running.

If you did not encounter said problem, well and good for you. But for those who were affected, 1.02 promises the following fixes:
  • Major Bug in server start due to a faulty MAC address retrieval
  • PMS do not start after activating the archive browsing option
  • Media library small fixes
Apart from that, there's also now an OSX version working in Java1.5 and is expected to be able to run with more Macs! For posterity's sake, we're also posting here the changelog for v1.02. in case you didn't catch it the first time.

Fixes:
  • Major Bug in server start due to a faulty MAC address retrieval
  • PMS do not start after activating the archive browsing option
  • Media library small fixes
  • A/V out of sync issues with some ISOs and medias / codecs support improvement (flv, rmvb, hdmov, mp4, multichannels avi, etc.)
  • External subtitles not always loaded
  • Upnp advertising issue in search reply to the ps3 (thanks to Daniel Pedersen)
  • SkipLoopFilter is now disabled by default
  • Regression since 0.98, server would not start on some machines
  • Newest builds of ffmpeg/mplayer/mencoder for win32
  • Usual bunch of fixes
New Features:
  • Auto-updater, default configuration, cleanups and windows/linux build scripts (thanks to Tim Cox)
  • Media library (also act as a parsing cache): you can sort your files by date, ID3 tags, etc.
  • Playlists (m3u/pls) support
  • Preliminary album art support, better audio (flac) and tags parsing
  • New options for video resolution, deinterlace filter, and archives browsing
  • Video settings with an easier virtual menu (A/V sync, deinterlace, ...)
  • Windows service installer (working on 32 bits only)
  • New image parsing library: Better performance / EXIF support (sort photos by camera model, etc.)
  • DVR-MS addon

» avi/divx?

hey guys it's been almost a year now. i cannot find a way to get divx/avi to work on media sharing type programs. nero home media/this/that one program from red something...all show my anime files (divx avi) w/thumb nail picture but will not play them. wtf. why cant anyone make a media server that will work with divx/xvid?

» divx/avi

Have you tried TVersity? avi and divx videos run fine.

I'm still going to try this one out though. TVersity is a resource hog.

Yeah I use to use Red Kawa too but switched over to TVersity, it is a resource hog but it transcodes any type of video on the fly and now it streams MKV files finally.

» That's odd...

I couldn't really tell you what the problem is. WMP Sharing plays DivX/.AVI files perfectly fine for me.

» Yay!

This program is SO Freaking awesome!

Before i used Tversity, but if i tried to transcode with it, it would crash! With this however i can transcode HD .mkv files with .srt subtitle, .ogm, .avi with .srt no matter what codec. Everything almost flawless apart from some .mkv files that didn't hold up the framerate. Probably cuz my comp is too slow.
