Flight 3D demo - Image 1

It looks like things may be moving further towards 3D in the PS3 BD-J homebrew scene, as evidenced by the BD-J flight demo released by Nuclear Bit on the QJ.NET PS3 Hacks, Exploits and Homebrew forum.

The BD-J flight demo is based on terrain rendering code originally written in C and then rewritten for Java. The developer notes that it uses floats in stead of fixed point arithmetic. It's also in 3D, with Nuclear Bit going voxel-based instead polygon-based.

To install the flight demo, just extract the AVCHD folder to a USB storage device of your choice and run it. The flight2 folder contains the source code. The d-pad is used to turn and control speed while the Square and Cross buttons change the viewer's altitude.

A query, since interactive BD allows you to access internet and download files (this is the impression I got) would it be possible to put store content into a BD-J file and have this content install from the disk as though it where exclusive content from a blu-ray disk? Seems feasable to an extent, but wheather blu-ray uses a different format and pkg is already filtered I wouldnt know.

We can get links for all store content and download it through a pc, which is often quicker than using the playstation itself so if we downloaded the files via pc and then put it onto a memory stick or external hdd in a BD-J file setup like the homebrew games maybe it would be possible to install the games from that folder.

Just a thought, I don't know how to code or I would test it. And there are probably many obvious reasons why this would not work.

» you mean

install it on a hdd

using the ps3 browser is doubtful

however if we manage to get file acces then yes it would be possible, (should)

considering all that needed is a socket then save that file to the hdd

Sorry I did'nt make that too clear, I don't mean using the PS3 browser, I mean by using your pc to download the file, say for instance GT 5 Prologue, the links for that are everywhere, put the file into the homebrew folder (BD-J) and writing a code that would install it as though it is exclusive content for the ps3. So the PS3 would think it is exclusive content and let it install, at which point you just installed the game onto your system,

The only previous way of doing that was via ps3 proxy and that doesnt work anyway :(

You sure I was trying for ages the other day a good four hours, then read a thread and it says after 2.42 it doesn't work.

If you have any advice it would be much appreciated thank you.
