PS3 gets Trophy errors, fix is on the way |

Most of you may not have experienced this problem, but some of you may have. After the introduction of the PS3's FW 2.5, reports started coming in of a freak synchronization error that corrupts Trophy data. When the problem does occur, some games give an error message saying that there is a problem with syncing Trophy data. Extreme cases give users a looped "try again" message.
The error went mostly unexplained, but it seems that the problem occurs when you try to fix your PlayStation Network ID and password. Known games that are affected are WipEout HD, Burnout Paradise, LittleBigPlanet, and Pain. If the problem hits your console, then the following steps are suggested:
- Delete your Game Data (that's the install files for a game, NOT the Save Data).
- Use the Backup option in the PS3's XMB to create a full backup of your hard drive.
- Restore your PS3 from the backup.
- You trophies will all be gone but don't panic - that data will be stored on Sony's servers. Just reinstall the game, install the Trophy data and the sync should work fine. Maybe.

It is impossible to change your PSN ID. That is permanent.
I believe you mean your Sign On ID (email address)?

The only problem with this is that some games may not let you use your old savefile. Though your old trophies will be back. And you will have to redownload any PSN games due to a copyright protection thing.
In the end, you do end up losing the savefile for Burnout Paradise(the only game which affected me, though I wasn't that far in LBP anyway so I just deleted that file) 'cause it's not shareable, but for people with a large and fairly full HDD and cannot do a full system backup, it could be worth it in the end.
