PS3 - Game of the Year

Gino D:

Best PS3 Game: Metal Gear Solid 4

Runner's Up: LittleBigPlanet, Fallout 3

Comments: This was actually a tough nut to crack: LBP or MGS4? Two very different games from very different genres (with an overlap of a Solid Snake Sackboy), but despite it all, MGS4 still gets the laurels. The entire series has been consistently getting better and better as the games rolled out, and this fourth and final installment is a worthy testament to Snake's entire journey. Quite simply, you couldn't have asked for a better finale for MGS!

Isaac C:

Best PS3 Game: Metal Gear solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Runner's Up: LittleBigPlanet, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe

Comments: MK vs DC. You gotta love it. Or no one else will.

Mabie A:

Best PS3 Game: LittleBigPlanet

Runner's Up: Metal Gear Solid 4

Comments: MGS4 is undoubtedly great, but I won't pretend I've played it through. Based on its own merits, and from the few times I actually got to tear the controller away from the boys here at the office, it is one of the best games to come out this year.

Karl B:

Best PS3 Game: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Runner's Up: Valkyria Chronicles

Comments: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - Snake's long and convoluted saga deserved a fittingly over-the-top conclusion, and MGS4 delivered.

Valkyria Chronicles - This strategy-slash-action-RPG title mostly went unappreciated when it hit North America, but in my opinion it's hands-down the best (and best-looking) RPG title the PS3 has so far.

Glenn M:

Best PS3 Game: LittleBigPlanet

Runner Up: Grand Theft Auto IV

Comments:
1) as good as GTA4 may be, fact remains, it's nothing that we haven't seen before.. it's on that category that LBP outshines the competition.. the game is simply spectacular..
2) everyone had this coming - mafia boys in GTA.. Niko Bellic pulls the part off very well.. the game gets a bit redundant at some points, but if you keep your eyes on the prize, you will blow by all that without even noticing..

Chris C:

Best PS3 Game: Fallout 3

Runner's Up: Burnout Paradise, Grand Theft Auto IV

Comments: Tough one for me, there were so many awesome PS3 games this year. In the end though I find myself gravitating toward Fallout 3. Much like Oblivion before it, this one's going to last me years.

I'm not a MGS fan myself, I prefer the action packed FPSs. But I agree with your views. MGS and it's storylines etc. have been getting better release by release.

Fallout 3 is good, as is LittleBigPlanet .

Bring on '09

I absolutely loved the first two MGS games, missed the third one and thought about getting this one but it's too much of a movie for my taste. I'm sure it's class but I'd get too frustrated watching the cutscenes and at the same time I wouldn't want to skip through them and miss out on the story... so I gave it a miss.

I think LBP was probably the best the PS3 saw, the innovation behind it alone sticks it right up there.

GTA was amazing, and I know there wasn't much new about it but the attention to detail has to be recognised and applauded. Rockstar North did such a great job with this that they've set a new standard, many levels above that of San Andreas which frankly most developers won't be able to match for a while. This means that the developers over at Rockstar North really have one hell of a job on for the next installment of the series, which even though nothing has been said about it, I'm sure work has already begun on it.

That's my opinion, most of you will probably disagree though! Lol!

08 had so many great titles which made it almost impossible to choose which is better, i can't even imagine how hard it'll be in 09 with lots of amazing titles to be released and who knows what else we'll get.

MGS4 : )
