Uh-oh. Looks like FW 3.0 just made Uncharted a bit more unchartable. Reports are coming in of freezing complaints on the game, ever since they updated to the newest firmware update from Sony.
"At regular intervals" is how the general complainants population over at the GameFAQs forums would describe it, while some are more unfortunate, experiencing lock-ups as soon as a minute. So far, the issue seems to be happening only for Uncharted, so we're still trying to get confirmation that this is indeed a FW update bug, or if it's a disc bug. Most likely, am betting it's on the first choice.

I wouldn't consider this a major problem considering how old the game is now. Although (to contradict myself) I'm sure lots of new PS3 owners are going to buy this, there should be lots of new people buying with the new price and slim. If there is going to be a fix I'm sure it'd have to come from Sony in a firmware update. ND is probably way too busy with Uncharted 2 to worry about Drake's Fortune.
hell i got a launch 60 gb unit, and id still love to get this game.... just too busy with others. although its likely a FW bug, these are the kind of bugs, aside from bricking, people dont need period, and it seems as though Sony has been plagued by them.
ps: i don't favor systems, i favor games
I haven't played Uncharted since the FW update, but I did start up a new game of MGS4, and about five minutes in, the game locked up. It was weird though, because I could still exit to the XMB. I don't know if it's due to the FW update, but I've never experienced this kind of problem in any of my other games before.
Im actually going to say this is a major fallback. Just based on the trade off of a crappy makeover update at gamings expensive. Another example of how makeovers prevail over gaming quality! jk (kinda, not really)
I emailed Sony, they said...
"For anyone having issues with current games locking up, hit the middle PS button... go back to the main menu, and look at all the sparklys!"
yer i agree wit uu becuz ive just got my uncharted 2 platinum on yesterday n it didn't freeze but when i played battlefield 1943 it freezed about 15mins in, but i dont think it becuz of the update becuz battlefield use 2 freeze on my ps3 b4 fw 3.0

you wont be saying that if a game freezed on you also would like to get it fix new or old
I just tried it out, happened for me too. I was just playing the first level on the boat, pressed start, checked my treasures, and when I tried to close the menu, it froze.
Never happened with Uncharted, so I guess it really the FW's fault.
This happened to me too on call of duty W@W when i was in the menu it went black and the game ffroze and i could still press the playstation button and go to the xmb,,,!!!!!!!!!
You still haven't played Uncharted!!!!??? Are you crazy!? That's one of the best games to buy on the PS3!
Yeah they said that each sparkly you see is directly linked to each dollar they are making real time! Amazing!
well mine is anyway ... stalls way more often than it use to and i have yet to watch a video longer than ten minutes that didnt stop loading halfway ... i mean i liked the new update but if some sparkles are gonna cost functionality than those sparkles can just go someplace happy and die
with me I wasn't playing a game I was in text chat and it just kicked me out and locked up for 5 minutes both times
I noticed that there is no more background playback is available even with having the song saved into the HDD which means that there is no more background music for the web browser as well...so far this update is crap...I don't consider this an update cause all they did is give the XMB a makeover and so far I ain't liking it one bit
ever since the update. Wolfenstein wont play anymore. it'll load the save data. and, it'll stay at the loading screen.
THIS UPDATE REALLY PISSES ME OFF! Killzone 2 freezes, ingame,and in multiplayer allot!!! Sony patch this firmware up!dunno if its the firmware thought but it freezes allot when i`m on 3.0
can downgrade your ps3 .... you go on the recovery menu on the ps3 and from there you can downgrade!!!! go on youtube to see how to go on the recovery menu !!!

it also happened when i was playing online. all the people justt froze on my scrren.
Uncharted is the only game I've really played since the update and it hasn't frozen yet.
Uncharted used to freeze, on occasion, before the update anyway.
This is bound to happen when you use multiple companies to produce multiple sku's of a console. This why 360 used to have bricked machines when a new update was released (probably why 360 only does updates twice a year as well, so they can test it as much as possible).
Some random freezes and glitches are not so bad, and now that the complaints are logged and Sony is looking into it, there will be a 3.01 update coming along soon...
i didnt buy uncharted until three weeks ago.. not everyone buys games based on what others say about it.. + did u read his post?
im on my ps3 browser typing this now + im playing music too.. so idk wtf youre talking about.

Seems like one of those bugs that escapes during testing. Then again, this is what the FW update was for. To find potential bugs others may encounter.

After updating to 3.0 I checked it out a bit and then turned it off, I turned it on last night and within 5 minutes I got the ylod. It's out of warranty so I broke it down and reflowed the mobo. Put it back together and it works fine. Only thing is, after about 5 minutes of just sitting idle, the fan spins up like it would after playing for an hour or two.
My PS3 is also constantly crashing now since 2.0, but with ALL game. I've been TRYING to play Batman Arkham Asylum, but can't for more than 5-10 minutes without a crash / lockup. Makes the PS3 totally unplayable. No better than an expensive doorstop with 3.0. They need to fix this ASAP.
odd. I've got FW3.00 and have been playing Uncharted, Batman - Arkham Asylum and Street Fighter IV a lot in the past week and haven't had a single problem with any game
One thing I have noticed about Uncharted though. It's saying I've got more trophy percentage complete than I used to but I haven't obtained a new trophy in a couple months. It's saying 70 percent when I swear it used to be about 57
