Ó

Head's up to all PS3 owners. In case you haven't checked yet, Sony has just rolled out a mandatory system update for the PS3. So what's new in version 3.55? Well according to Sony, this release...
"Is a minor update that adds a security patch."
That's it, short and sweet.

Well played Sony.
At least they're not patronising us with their 'minor-to-non-existent' new features (with added security update) per firmware release any more.

I know right? Pretty damn pathetic using a ZERO in my name huh?
So sad, that pathetic loser will never stop spending all his energy to 1 up me. Yet I find it so satisfying that I affect him on such a grand scale.
Oh well, at least QJ was a nice place to hang out this past week without that turd acting like a damn fool all over the site. Anyone else notice that both mr common douchebag and the fake is0haven logged in AT THE SAME TIME after an entire week? He's such a lonely child. Poor guy :(

That would imply they knew the specific exploit the scene would use before said scene discovered it.
If they knew that, they'd have patched it before the last update was released.
Unless you were implying they were holding on to features until they next exploit was found to save another round of revisions.
However that doesn't make any sense either, as the topic points out there are no other new features.

The lv2diag.self was revoked, which is what the downgraders used.

Nice...
When will they learn that the hackers will never stop. They should stop wasting money on stopping the hackers, and instead employ them to help develop the stuff we all really want on our PS3s!

Is that ALL you've got Sony?
I'd at least expected some new applications on the upcoming firmware but I was wrong about them once again.
Don't think I'll be updating the system.

Sony will always update if theres a new hack out,, just part of the cycle console users have to put up with to play online.
I really dont mind,, this game of cat and mouse has been going on for years.

Like it or not, Sony has a right to protect their system that they (and you know this) spent a boatload of money researching and developing. Whether or not it disallows piracy AND homebrew AND f'ing online cheaters is of no consequence to them.
I may not agree with their tactics or that it is healthy for them in the long run to do this, but they surely have financial information that I'm not aware of. You can't blame them for attempting to protect their bottom line just because you disagree with the way they're choosing to do it.
Also, I would definitely agree with folks advocating that Sony actually provide us with new features when they do these patches.
