Looks like Sony's latest firmware update for the PS3 didn't only include some minor "security patch" to block the recent exploits, as reports are now flooding in, some Call of Duty: Black Ops gamers, accused of modding and hacking their console, has been hit by a wave of banhammer.

According to a number of posts on the Black Ops forums, those who download the latest PS3 firmware, who have been found hacking or cheating, have been permanently banned from the Black Ops multiplayer servers.

They're not banning CFW, they're banning people with hacked saves and irregular scripts.

Also while trying to decipher that, I can see they're trying to use the "whatever happened, somebody else did it scapegoat". 1st post is implying he might have used a hacker's account unknowingly from a friend. The second one is implying he bought a console from a possible hacker. And the third one is saying he might have entered a hacked lobby. So you see, they're claiming ignorance and at the same time they justify themselves. Classic liar methodology.

if you can't compete without the need to cheat, then don't play at all. all you're doing is ruining it for every legitimate player who has put time and effort into getting a respectable score.
i recently had my stats wiped on MW2, and i'm not very happy tbh, as i'd put a fair few hours into it.

If it were up to me they would stay banned until they learned to use spell check.

Good question... I think Sony isn't able to Ban PSN Accounts... so instead they ban your entire PS3 via MAC Address?????
Or if they are able to Ban PSN Accounts, they decided to make it easier and just ban the entire PS3 so Hackers/Modders won't make another Hacked account.
But it sucks if multiple people use a single console and also played CoD:BLOPS, cause now they can't play cause of their stupid bro/sis/mom?/dad/whoever.

Cheating online is a douchebag move. The entire console should be banned from that game.

If they choose to go into modded servers, shame on them. If they go into a modded server by accident, I hope there is a way to clear their names.
I remember jumping into modded MW2 Rust games... utter mayhem and we couldn't tell until it was too late.

Although, I would love it if mod servers were allowed, but stats don't carry over to the XBL or PSN stats list, so you can modify game rules and weapons and still have fun.
Just like in TF2 on PC. Though thats another keg of fish.
