PS3 firmware 2.76 now out |
Ó

Yep, Sony has released a new firmware update for the PlayStation 3. While these updates usually carry some extra features that aren't necessarily publicized, here's what the update contains according to PSN operations director Eric Lempel:
Hello, I just wanted to provide everyone with a headÂ’s up that the next PLAYSTATION 3 system software update (v.2.76) will be coming soon. This is a minor update that improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software.
There's a lot of noise on the US PlayStation boards mentioning problems downloading the firmware update, so if you can't download it via PSN, you may want top check here for some 2.76 mirrors.

This update came out while I was playing a game, and the game froze. I reset my PS3 and updated to the 2.76, and ever since then it refuses to read any game I put in it. All my games are unscratched, and it won't even read my PS2 games anymore. WTF SONY?!
I came home at night and updated my ps3, but after the update i can't play online. I try Killzone 2 but it takes too long trying to connect. Dont know whats happenning !!!
networking error online FKDUP but PS2 play back's fine AWSOME SlAUCE!
I wonder if this update was made to patch the TIFF 'exploit' in 2.70
I have updated like 3 hours ago, and I have had no issues at all. I have been playing SFIV and RE5 and zero problems
maybe, they don't want CFW on the big black box.
I actually notice a huge difference in GTA IV. It has more seamless gameplay. Online works completely, the ones who say it doesn't work probably screwed around with their systems while updating.
The libtiff exploit only came out just hours before this update did, if it did block it, it would have taken longer for the update to come out
No problems here yet either. Have played Uncharted - Drakes Fortune and X-Men Origins: Wolverine just fine since the update.
for me. i wonder which games this improves.
they updated the network last night starting at 10 pm pacific.. we were still able to login but all online games couldnt connect.. its back up now
PS3 stinkeee
My games seem to be working fine, but MS:PR's online doesn't seem to be working and BP's online is working. Maybe MS:PR's servers need to be updated still?
Well i'd really like to see a cfw on the ps3
but i also want that free house that is up for download today.
sigh
guess ill have to update.... but it is very likely that this is just an exploit fix. they wanna get rid of those asap once they find out about em. sony is soo anti-homebrew
Seriously, do they have Willy Wonka coming up with these firmware version numbers? Why not release 2.71? Wouldn't that make a little more sense then 2.76. I tell ya, Sony has the most confusing version list ever made, though I will admit it's nowhere near as confusing (and annoying) as the Xbox 360's.
PS3 3.00 M33!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I updated today and immediately after updating, I can no longer get on the PSN. I keep getting a message saying this is a DSN error. web browser works fine though. sigh.
ever think they might be working versions and the number it has when its released is just the version that was ready
who seriously cares though, why would you even notice that enough to think about it really?
