PS3 Fallout another crappy port? |
Ó
So it seems there was some truth to the leaked PS3 Fallout 3 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) review circulating the internet some time before the game's release. You may recall it mentioned problems with the graphics and frame rate, which was later downplayed by PSM3. Well....
The game is now out and owners of the PlayStation 3 version are reporting choppy frame rates, graphical glitches, random lock-ups and a whole bunch of other things. They've taken their complaints to the Bethesda Game Studios Forums if you'd like to see the specifics or air your own grievances.
Two major bugs have already been found. A system lock up during the GOAT test and another where the game pauses whenever a PS3 notification occurs. Bethesda advised workarounds for the two bugs: The former by saving and restarting, the latter by turning off all notifications in the XMB. A patch may be on the way soon but there's no official word on that yet.
On the other hand, Xbox and PC owners are mostly reporting smooth sailing for their post-apocalyptic hellhole experiences and are looking forward to the massive DLCs promised by Bethesda - the DLCs that were confirmed to be exclusive to PC and Xbox only. I'm sure PS3 fans are sticking little needles into Peter Hines dolls about now.
I'd be doing exactly the same... but I wisely bought the PC version.
If it makes you PS3 version owners feel any better, I did experience a graphical glitch during the GOAT portion too...

GOAT just fine... but i do have pauses during PS3 notifications so i turned it off...
i'm loving the game though... framerate is ok and no pop ups.
given the hard development climax point on Sonys"Cell" processor, it is a given that this article will endure what every game has been through if the developers develop for the opposing console first.
Stupid article as every version of Fallout has bugs, even the PC.

Not all of this is exclusive to the PS3 version. And what a great title for this blog entry. Surprised a flame war didn't break out yet.
There are 3 certainties in life: Death, Taxes and Bethesda shipping titles with bugs in them. That's why God invented patches. Just wait for them to adress the issues, k?

Pay close attention to the bug on PS3 and 360!
PS3 FTW!
I hope they release a fix... well, I don't care to tell you the truth, I don't like those games anyway. But I'm still hoping for the ones who bought it. Releasing a product before completion is M$'s way of doing things, devs shouldn't copycat them..
PS: At M$, If you want me to buy your console, please make it so it works at least...
He said the standard un-patched PC version ran fine. And he was running a steam version. And steam auto patches. Which is why I only ever buy Valve software from Steam. But even that gets *****ed, but is usually patched soon after.
Release a game before the it is done, it somehow reminds me of Gt5p lol.
Fallout another crappy game?
I don't even consider this a Fallout game. The real Fallout 3 was canned years ago and I won't be playing what Bethesda thinks Fallout 3 should be. It's just Oblivion with guns/Oblivion directors cut.
The whole game is garbage no matter what system you play it on.
I think the horrendous textures are more a case of accidentally tagging the 360 pic as "PC" and vice-versa.
The picture labelled "360" seems to be a little bit too crap to be correct. It looks more like a PC running the game on mid/low settings.
However, as much as I doubt it, I may be wrong, because I've only played the PS3 version myself.
This ridiculous oily/shiny look is going too far. They did it in GTA4 and it looked like everyone was coated with grease.
The fact that you said "I won't be playing what Bethesda thinks Fallout 3 should be" means you haven't even touched this game yet and have no valid opinion about it.
FreePlay
i understand where your comeing from and they do take the oil texture to far some times,
BUT if you Look at yourself /Skin you Have Oil on you and When lite hits it will Look shiny, Thus way Movie Stars put on Powder so there Oily Skin does not Show on screen.
Freeplay FTW.
I have had the game for a week, and have not had any problem with it. I know someone who got the PS3 Fallout on the day it came out, and have not had one problem with the game. I also know someone who has the 360 Fallout and has had a few lockups.
They will release exactly 2 patches for the game and 1 patch for each expansion (if any) and not fix any bugs reported by the users/media from day 1.
They will continue to post News and Awards articles on the Fallout 3 Websites for years to come trying to get as much publicity as possible . . .
That's exactly what happend with Oblivion and Morrowind.
