Ó
Well, Mestaty has just posted this vid on YouTube, and to make things clear before some of you guys start bashing the vid (or us) with stuff like "this vid is useless, it doesn't even show how the Eye Toy works on the PS3," we're gonna make it clear that this seems to be an ad, and not a demo -- something that Mestaty wasn't able to mention in his post.
So anyhoo, now that that's out of the way, are we the only ones who think that Sony deserves snaps for trying to provide would-be PS3 owners something that could parallel what the Wiimote-Nunchuk combo does with the motion sensing technology? Too bad though that the Eye Toy will only work with games that are specifically Eye Toy-designed. Tsk tsk.

The controller works really well, theres a reason why every console has a handheld controller. Your fingers are very dextrous and quick to react, where as the rest of your body isn't (which is worse for some people than others)
So making something like this universal, or mandatory (think being forced to use the sixaxis motion sensing in EVERY game) Or using the Wiimote as a motion sensor in every game. Would just be ridiculous.
Some games can use it and should, others should stick with what works best, and not go off on some other platform just because its "new and hyped up".

and I dislike most of the ps2 eyetoy play.. but I suppose it's cool if you like it, or want to record you playing karaoke in singstar or a lot better it they could do something really special with it, like a good puzzle game. But I'll need more light in my living room if I wanna play it anyway lol

Play a game normally, but interact with the environment by moving things by actually moving them in the game by moving your body in front of the camera. Put yourself into the game. Make music by playing on an imaginary keyboard. Guitar Hero 3 using the Eye-Toy to put yourself in the game... Reload FPS and shooters by making an action. Lemmings (make yourself an object). Motion capture.
The list goes on, and I'm excited to see what they can do with it.
This is why people can't say Sony copied Nintendo, and aren't innovative. This was truly an innovative thing, and I hope to see what they can do with it, and the PS3.

Eye toy is neat.. but not what should be used to go directly against wii's remote.
btw.. to comment on the video chat. we all know how that went with the ps2s eyetoy.. it never happened... and it was brought up many times in its past.
this eyetoy will end up like the last eyetoy.. right next to any of the barely used gimmick controls (light guns, keyboards, yoga mats, interactive golf tees, ect)
something every system seems to like to cash in on.
