What would Sean Connery do? - Image 1

For the longest time, European Sony fans have been told that the launch of the PS3 over on their side of the globe will be by March of this year. However, if this is the case, many are wondering why an exact date has still not yet been pegged down, even with the supposed month of the launch drawing closer and closer. Many are left to believe that it's such a hush-hush surprise that even some Sony top honchos aren't too sure about it. Meanwhile, that leaves the rest of us mortals to our own guesses.

This time around, GWN makes another attempt to guess the date of the launch for the sake of everyone who wants to camp out. According to them, even though retailers like Amazon and Gameseek have listed the release date as March 30, there are many signs which may indicate that the launch will actually be on an earlier date.

Their latest theory revolves around the fact that the Blu-ray disc version of the movie "Casino Royale" will be released on March 19, and that "this would be an ideal time for Sony to take advantage of the PS3 launch and cash in on Blu-ray sales at the same time".

Will it be so? Meanwhile, an announcement from Sony is expected sometime soon, so stay tuned.

To be honest, this would be a great move, as when i go to pick up my PS3 on launch day, i see that Casino Royale is available in BluRay HD, i would definitely buy both as it is an awesome film, simply to try out my new PS3's capablilities

i bought my ps3 in november, and im impressed with it, but not $1000 (system, acessories, games) worth of impressed. but i think march is looking like it could be the savior of the ps3. with the major update comming and now i hear of casino royal comming to BD. things are looking better and better.

isnt the article saying that they might include Casino Royale with the PS3, like they did with Taladega Nights (or whatever it was called)? if so then its an extra incentive to get a PS3 at launch (like I was ever considering not doing anyway lol)

No film will ever make a difference to the sale of an expensive game console.

For games and movies, Australia is classed as a Europe territory. Good work, fool.

# If a film sells a console then the buyers will be film fans rather than gamers.Guest 2007-01-22 01:40
Or it could be that there is a large amount of big titles being released in March for the 360 which would not help the sales of the most expensive console with few games for it and as you see from some of the above posts seems to be appealing more to the film buffs than gamers.

I thought Bluray was going to start using VC-1 encoding. Becasue every HD-DVD i have, is night and day better than the DVD, and still better than upconverting it.

@Broken_Zeero

If you cannot see the difference, you either don't have a HDTV or you are blind.
