Playstation 3 - Image 1The long awaited sale of the Playstation 3 in Europe will finally happen this March 23, but a week before that, Microsoft will also launch its Xbox 360 Platinum Hits. Hard decisions must be made by gamers all across Europe, but we guess that the differences in these products' price tags: the equivalent of US$ 790  for a Playstation 3 console, and US$ 39 for Microsoft's Platinum Hits Range, will at least make choices easier to face.

The Playstation 3 was actually planned to be released in Europe earlier, but this initial date was postponed after encountering problems of mass producing the parts for the console's  Blu-ray disc drive. Sony said that 1 million consoles will be available at launch in Europe, with a fourth of this to be sold in the UK alone.

Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 Platinum Hits has been making rounds in the US since October. Titles included in this range are: Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, Burnout Revenge, Fight Night Round 3 and Top Spin 2.

» yeah

you forgot to mention that the platinum hits are all crap and I don't know of any gamers that will have a hard choice to do "umm I have 600$ should I buy a 39$ platinum hit game or a console that I wanted to buy for 2 months"

by MisterAV - 2007-02-28 02:19
» even this?

M$ copied the name. The PS1 and PS2 titles was platinum.

You forgot to mention " and to give Sony time to remove chips that allow PS2 games to run and to increase the price."

weren't they the greatest hits?

You forgot the fact 3 of the platinum hits games are better than the PS3 counterparts for nearly half the price on the cheaper immediately available XBOX 360.

Maybe people that have waited for a PS3 are disappointed with recent anouncments too.

» Dumb.

...Are you kidding me? This is retarded. Is the entire world poor? This is *****ing stupid. Anyone waiting for the PS3 is going to get one. Platinum releases is NOT going to affect anyone in any way. If you are spending $600, I'm SURE you won't mind spending $40 IF YOU ALREADY OWN a 360 on another games.

This was probably the most dumb-minded post I've ever read. There are so many stupid assumptions.

Did you expect Europeans to just buy a PS3 and not spend another $60 on a game? AT THE VERY MOST, if someone HAS to buy one of these games on release day(OH MY GOD) and they've been waiting for the platinum releases for awhile, they apparantly didn't have enough money to buy the original ones, so they probably wont even be buying a PS3.

And if they DO buy a PS3, that $40 is NOT A BIG DEAL.

Retarded and dumb.

» I AGREE THE FIRST POSTER IS STUPID

Sad that the first post as usual is by a PS3 owner not commenting on the PS3 games but being negative towards the 360 platinum games, the thing he missed is that they are ALSO PS3 Euro console launch titles only at twice the price lol

by haha - 2007-02-28 06:14
» i wouldnt buy these games

even for $39... i still wouldnt buy these games. Id rather save the money and buy real 360 games.

anyways, i dont see how people who are dissapointed about the ps3 would turn to this. "ummm....Im mad that the ps3 was delayed... i'll buy these crappy games just cuz im mad at sony." no.

MS should have something better up their sleeves than this.

by vaporub - 2007-02-28 06:17

common is right. its greatest hits, xbox had platinum

by HAXorz - 2007-02-28 06:32
» right...

so this article is suggesting that Europeans might cancel their PS3 preorder so that they can buy crap 360 games at half the price.

ahm... NO THANK YOU!!!

I would. I'm not rich. Far from it and I love gaming.

I'm not one of those rich ba*tards who go out and buy all 3 console and the latest released games.

I enjoy it when microsoft release games for cheaper. Especially when they're not even THAT old. i.e. FN3.

Anyway, basicaly, I'd buy old games if they're good games. I hate rich fanboys who don't shut up about getting the newest games out!

» platinum

PS2 used platinum for there games not greatest hits.

And there are allready platinum games out for the 360 in europe. In belgium at least.

so it looks like you can either get a deal (360) or get ripped off (ps3). i know which one i would choose if i had the chance.

"but we guess that the differences in these products' price tags: the equivalent of US$ 790 for a Playstation 3 console, and US$ 39 for Microsoft's Platinum Hits Range, will at least make choices easier to face."

Wtf is this? Are you trying to say that Europeans will forgo the PS3 and buy Xbox Platinum Hits because they're cheaper? Look, I support the 360 100% (and I don't really like the PS3), but that is just stupid.

by we - 2007-03-01 01:30
» You are criticizing yourself

You are so stupid, the Platinum release is just a progression for 360 software, the PS3 was a delay, and those games you call CRAP are PS3 LAUNCH TITLES so you are criticizing your own post...
