There are people who like the XBox 360. There are gamers who prefer the Wii. Plus of course, there are people who can't wait for the PS3 to come out. Some might think the Xbox is better than the Wii (or the other way around). And some might think the PS3 is not worth its price at all. Those who do seem to fan their disappointment toward the PS3 more, as news concerned with games not available for the PS3 is being blown out of proportions by these "PS3 doubters."Recently, there have been reports about game developers who are supposedly "pulling out" (or not creating their games at all) from the much-awaited Sony platform. People have also noticed the "delay" of WWE Smackdown vs. Raw's release for the PS3 version, and they're assuming that this is an indication of something relevant, of something very big. The game is going to be available this November for the Xbox 360, PS2 and PSP but the PS3 won't be around until next year. Come on, the game's release will only be delayed; don't worry about the development of the game being stopped. They never said anything about that.
There had also been a report on how Crave supposedly "dropped" Sony, when in fact its game World Championship Poker: Featuring Howard Lederer "All In" doesn't have a PS3 version as of now. However, a representative from Crave was reported saying that they are "covering bases in case it decides to port the game to Sony's next-gen console." So there. They did not pull out their game for the PS3; they haven't even created one for the PS3. Though they might.
There are many other examples of these misleading rumors, but just like every other rumor out there, they turn out to be far from real anyway. Even if these PS3 doubters seem to add more insult to injury (if there's any injury at all), there's no stopping the hardcore Sony fans from getting their hands on the PS3. On the other hand, why don't we take a break from all the ranting and just wait for the PS3's sales to speak for itself?

I dont doubt Sony but all this news about them losing exclusive games and stuff like that has just kinda made me wanna wait til it comes out for a few months and see how good everything goes
how are ports going to work, the 360 has 9 gig. disc space and the ps3 has 50 gig, 25 gig single layer disc, wat happens with all that room If its a port?
we can see ports will be done by first making the game with the 360 in mind and then spending a few weeks of development adding a few things to the PS3 one, so the 9GB file could only grow about 200MB. and in that light, ports won't use that space and only the PS3 only games will use the space
that's all.
so I guess they did the right thing to put more effort into it
At EA, where looking to put in "making of videos", links to websites etc. even with games with a big back catalogue, dont be suprised if developers put one or two of their back catalogue games on the discs aswell (FIFA 06 did this, putting the 1st FIFA game on the disc)

Price don't matter, look at the Gamecube vs. PS2 and DS vs. PSP. Sony is a good brand name, Nintendo just lost it's beauty, they just stayed with mario and so on, they are still living on the 90's (and BTW I am playing since the NES....) but they just lost the exitement, from the N64 it the same again, and again, and it will continue....
PS3 will show that no matter the price, it will sell more than the competition..!!!!!
y u say 360 get the games 1st like some say 360 is just a market to test games out, and when they c its good they make it beter and put it on the ps3
the xbox 360 is related to the current gen consoles, I mean, devs can create a game for PS2, GC, XBOX, XBOX360 and even PSP without having to recode, they just port the games, ajusting the graphics or screen proportion... But the ps3 is totally next-gen, like the wii! so they can only make next-gen games on it! So they will cancel a multi-platform current gen game on ps3, so what? they will just have to make a totally next-gen one THEN we're gonna see it!

X360 is easy to port on current gen because it's only a graphical update compared to current gen
PS3 is totally next-gen, will be able to port only with x360 for the start and maybe unable to in 2-3 years when the 2nd gen of games with reach us.
They do it because it's cheaper. They're not going to create a game with the capacity of Blu-Ray in mind, then create a whole new game with the limits of DVD9. They will make multi-platform games on DVD9 first, because the same game will fit on Blu-Ray, no extra money spent...
The guy above me is a tard. You do know the PS3 only operates about 10% better than the 360? That won't equate to much in-game.

ps3 will probably use dvd5 and dual layer dvd(dvd9) for a long time, but if 9+ gb are need lets say 11gb a blu ray will be used. the rest will be filled with dummy.dat , a dummy file which help prolong lens life. the dummy file will make the lens read the inner layer of the disc since those dummy file are in other layer. of course its also used in dvd which is why dvd movie wear out console dvd- rom drive faster than games.
ps3 has weaker processor, and graphic accelerator but still runs better than 360? remember how ps2 looks so amazing bearing so little hardware compare to xbox? this is due to many different type of engine and rendering xbox lack. xbox 360 still lack what ps2 had, take a game ninety nine night for example, notice its bad facial expression of the character in the game. if it was ps2 game the expression are easier to render but of course the graphic will not be as good obviously. So if ps2 support all type of special feature like not included on xbox and xbox 360, dont that means ps3 will have much more to enhance the game even further?
Don't get me wrong, I love the 360 but Xbox and the 360 are nothing but computer hardware, with barely any modification compare to most other console out there. And sony sign a deal with Ageia 1 1/2 year back to use physx chipset on sony computers, I doubt it will be vaio so it has to be used on ps3. Ageia Physx chipset will take a big load off processor, ram, graphic accelerator and possibly Hard Drive, and if ps3 really include Physx, sony could downgrade hardware a little more and still match performance close to xbox 360.

To 9, read cliffy bs interview. He's right. Work SMARTER not harder. The harder it is to code, the less features you get in due to budget constraints. When you make things easy to code, you got more done in a time frame, add more features, and get to use better compression allowing for MORE information on a smaller disc.
And yea, by the time 2011 comes around Xbox 3 will be coming out and so will PS4, don't let sony trick you with their, "10 year guarantee". Hell computers are already about to pass the next gen systems, and TWO OF THEM AREN'T EVEN OUT.
in two years or so an AFFORDABLE pc may be able to surpass what 360 and ps3 can do (wii's power is not worth mentioning)... but the only platform with mgs4 and ff13 and all the other sony exclusives will be the ps3, the only platform with the nintendo exclusives will be wii, but the 360 is owned by microsoft, so they can just put their games on pc... so you know what that means? 360's life is not goign to be very long, because once you can get the same game but better looking (not to mention free online play, and better controls) on the pc then no one will bother with 360. and even if you can get better looking games on pc people will still be getting ps3 because it's games will only be on ps3.
ps2 has long since been supered by the pc, gcn, xbox and xbox 360 but it is still selling, and that's because of the library of good games out there. (and cos it's cheap, but xbox and gcn are also cheap right now).
ps3 is more powerful than 360, the details are still to be worked out, but it's sort of like the xbox vs gcn or gcn vs ps2... ps3 has sony's games division behind it, and that says a lot. wii has nintendo's games behind it, and that tells you it's going to be pretty good. but microsoft have yet to demonstrate DEPTH and VARIETY in their games catalogue. it's all good and well releasing fps games or third person shooters, or driving games... but there are loads of game types you can get nowadays, and xbox/360 still haven't got that kind of support.
anyway, 360 could grow, and ps3 could flop... but in my mind the most likely situation is that the sony fan-hordes will ensure ps3 does well.
i'm glad to see some people who actually think with their eyes OPEN. there has been nothing to prove that a 360 has what it takes to overrun 11 years worth of games and a target demographic targeted for all ages and gamers. That's one point in many others to prove a PS3 is worthwhile machine.

We know the PS3 is way more powerful than the 360. Just take a look at Unreal 2007 for the PS3 and Gears of War for the 360. Both used the Unreal Engine 3. Unreal 2007 fro the PS3 runs at 60 fps at 720p. Meanwhile, Gears of War on the 360 struggle to run at 30 fps at 480p. Just take a look at that and you'll see that the PS3 is clearly more powerful.
THQ has canceled the release of The Sopranos for Xbox 360, an action game based on the popular TV drama series from HBO. The reason is that the game would not look much better than the PS2 version, therefore the development is now focused on the PS2 version instead.

And both are completely different games, therefore your comparison is meaningless. It's like comparing Heavenly Sword on the PS3 (30fps with HDR and AA) and Forza 2 on the 360 (60fps with HDR, AA and global illumination), and drawing conclusions about the consoles from that.

Gears of War is running at 720p. NO 360 games are running at 480p. Stop lying just to 'prove' a point.
Anyway, when GeOW was first shown it was only running on a single core, even at E3 the game was single-threaded only, as Mark Rein confirmed recently, "The E3 demo] was using our single-threaded rendered. We have our new Gemini multi-threaded rendered working in the engine right now ... The final game's built on it, it gives us better frame rates and more fluidity - UT 2007 will also benefit from it."

I was really looking forward to it. The funny thing is Smackdown games were exclusive to Sony. I was really looking forward to the PS3 version because to to me it was going to be the real next-gen version. The Cube had DOR, PS2 had Smackdown, and all the Xbox had was crappy wrestling games. On the bright side the PS2 version will work on PS3. I still hope to see THQ go back to making two great WWE games a year. You only by Madden on one system. For the past few years I've been getting two WWE games a year. It's no big loss. It will be back next year. Still the Smackdown games keep me coming back to my PS2 many, many times.

so the final price is.....$600+$450 = $1050....still cheap....nice...and if u need like tuner....still cheaper to upgrade....so
