PS3 and sharing downloads: Confirmed

PS3'sHere's a bit good news for those opting to download from Sony's PlayStation Store: by logging on to an online account, the user can download their files from not only their PS3, but from up to 4 other PS3's (that's a total of 5).

Here's how it works: after a PS3 owner logs on, any content they've purchased from the site is ready for download any time they want. By logging in their account on another PS3, they can also download the file to that particular unit.

This feature should have its uses, like when you want to show a friend your latest product purchase, or if your PS3's conked out (we won't ask how), and you're still opting to play that PS1 DL you've just purchased.

Even better, it's great if you're trying to introduce said friends to that new multiplayer game that caught your fancy (and you're hoping to utterly humiliate them in...MWAHAHAHA!).

On that last note, this will make sharing downloadable games all the more easier, especially with some of the more interesting titles that were recently spotted.

» Great idea

This is a great move by sony

I am a sony boy although i do appreicate what the other consoles can do, its just that they dont really interest me that much.

Sony have made some VERY bad choices in the past but i guess you have to take the good with the bad, right?

I do think that this "sharing" system will prove to provide a more entertaining environment when playing games because who doesnt like sharing stuff with their mates (yes, im an aussie too) for the fact of rubbing it in their faces if you have something they dont have yet or just for the fun and enjoyment of just playing games...

Hoff out

» XBLA does the same thing right?

As long as you log into your XBL account anything that you've paid for you can download again for free? I don't know about the arcade games but I read somewhere concerning the extra content for Oblivion.

The problem may be that you can't play it unless you are logged into the specific account.

I don't think Sony would provide "free" games. Lets say I have five friends. I buy a game, share with all of them. Thats 4 lost sales! Developers might not like that either.
