And so it begins... The PS3 Jailbreak community is buzzing today over TeaM ACiD1C's latest update on their ongoing Acid Custom Firmware WIP project for the PS3. Now on its third official release, check out what's new in version 3.41.010 of the "customized firmware" right down below.

Finally after lots of testing TeaM-ACiD1C are proud to announce the third official release of Acid Customised Firmware .For this 3.41.010 release we have mainly concentrated on enabling some extra debug console options and developing the new Haxx category.This is only the small start of The Acid Custom Firmware WIP project and we have many more plans for the future. We wanted to get this stable version out there for more thorough testing in the wider community. Especially as things have changed since we started this project, The Holy grail for Custom firmware Developers : Just today a new homebrew app was released for PS3 that enables full write access to the dev_flash on PS3′s internal flash memory icon smile PS3 Acid Customised Firmware 3.41.010 By TeaM ACiD1C! Run from USB, or install it directly to your PS3s Flash , you decide! .You can follow the progress of AcidCFW on kbx.org and Ps3news where we will be releasing any new info we discover.Also from time to time we will release our latest stable versions here for download but only when we are happy they are tested enough.
We had a few more ideas we are working on and other things like the – No request event error -showing up which we left out for now until we can do more research and testing.
So Now that we have FULL write access to dev_flash with JaiCraB & ps3mrenigma’s new homebrew app – Mount Alejandro this means we can permanently install Acid Customised Firmware (AcidCFW) onto our Ps3s. Of course for those who dont want to permanently mod thier consoles thats fine too, just use JaiCraB’s other tool Firmloader 0.3 to run from USB. So now we have soft-mod solution and a permanently installable way of runnning AcidCFW.

I won't be making use of this cfw cause my PS3 has 3.55 fw and I barely touch it as I have a 360 now.

Doesn't make sense. If you barely touch it, then you should probably be at a much lower firmware. And only if you go online would you be forced to download a new firmware, so you could still watch movies or play offline and keep an old firmware.

I also have 3.55, and play just a few hours a week. Not interest on the JB for now. I prefer online experience, and to support the game market buying originals.
Originals are the best.
BUT, sorry for ranting here, I don't like the download thing, specially because buying packs, content etc can anytime become vapor ware if your console HDD suddenly dies.

When they have a CFW that we can easily install without special equipment and that will look and function exactly like the original FW and will update itself when the original does than we can consider it any good.

There are a lot of people very interested in what can and can't be accessed by CFW's and that kind of info will mean a great deal to them.

As for the average PS3 modder, even THEY wont touch this. This is for people that are wanting to dig around in their PS3.
For those people wanting to run HB...not needed. Doesn't do anything for them yet.

this just reads..... BIG TROUBLE..written all over this new custom firmware
this is good for the community because it allows us to play free games, go online and compete against other individuals and apply those sweet apps/emulators we love.
but to me this thing is in its early stages and this group /company is using us as scapegoats to test their latest custom firmware world wide... the usual
eventually sony is going to catch on and this time it wont be a new firmware its going to be a ban wave.we all know playing offline is not nearly as fun as online so if u have the extra cash to buy a new system go ahead use this thing but if not... wait.. stick it out until the ban wave comes and goes and then use what ever these people create to go online.
i can go on and on but i feel that nothing is new here its still working on the 3.41 firmware which means these hackers are stuck and until they can break the 3.41 barrier nothing that gets releases is safe.
i am not going to use this thing to me i prefer the es card reader that downgrades safely then can upgrade nicely

Oh really? Cuz I enjoy playing offline more than online. But I feel you on the banhammer, and Sony is the company that would start doing it. I'm convinced they hate their customers.

Some games would be pretty plane without online nowadays, like SSFIV, or Marvel vs Capcom 3.

I think so too. MS was pretty big on banning on the original xbox, and they're the nice guys in this scenario (not that I have any particular love for MS). Sony treat their customers with a level of contempt that surprises me at every turn. Still, I guess I can't blame them: some of us complain, but for the most part we all just accept it and keep buying their games, and some idiots even defend Sony's actions. Why should they treat us any better if we don't demand it?
I hope Nintendo's next console is good (the Wii is ok, but I don't particularly care for motion control or casual gaming), 'cuz they're the only console maker that hasn't pissed me off yet. For now, I'm buying all my ps3 games used. Yeah, I know it's not much and I'm only one person, but I refuse to give SCE any more of my money as long as they're treating us with open contempt.
Went off topic a bit there. Anyway, I agree that Sony will likely start issuing bans for anything jailbreak related as soon as they figure out a way to do it in the most dickish way possible. And I don't think it'll be good enough to simply wait for the ban wave to pass: hackers will find a way to block detection and then Sony will find another way to detect the hacks and it will continue like that-- you'll never be safe from being banned, and I wouldn't be surprised if they find a way to deliberately sabotage your ps3 if it's ever had the jailbreak on it.

I know of the DNS bypass but that is time limited and only works for the second-newest FW when a new OFW is rolled out.
