More from Sony's IFA 2010 press event earlier, the Japanese electronic giant has announced that the long awaited 3D Blu-ray playback update for the PS3 has been been pushed back to October.

Originally scheduled to arrive later this month, the upcoming firmware update will allow the console to playback 3D Blu-ray movies, providing, of course, you own a 3D-capable television. According to Engadget:

"The firmware update bringing 3D Blu-ray playback to the PlayStation 3 will not arrive this month, instead pushed back to October which, we are told, is an entire 30 days away."

I guess we'll have to wait then.

it better be better than netflix's $9 plan (unlimited dvds a month [1 out at a time] unlimited instant streaming on up to 5 devices which can be deactivated anytime and a new device can be activated) or cheaper.

I don't get it, the 3-D effects are encoded into the video itself. You should only need the special glasses and a HDTV.

Unless they use a form of active shutter in which case they are fucking retarded...

Meh, it's useless for me because I've got an HDTV (FullHD) and not a 3DTV.

But still excellent knowing it's finally arriving this feature.
