PS2 = PS3 - US$ 100 at EBGameStop

If the watermark and the warning don't make it clear enough, this is only a screencap!!! Don't print this and present this to EBGameStop for your deal. The math sounds simple, reports DealNews. EBGameStop will shave off one Benjamin (that's US$ 100.00 for those with someone or something else printed on their money) off of the price of a 20GB or 60GB PS3 by trading in the follwing:
  • one working PS2 system (complete, we guess, with its bundled-at-sale DualShock 2 controller, and all other accessories)
  • a second Sony-brand DualShock 2 controller
  • one PS2 8MB Memory Card - thankfully, of any brand.
  • the flyer which we took a screencap of. Very important - must present this (well, that) ad to receive discount.
Hopefully you might have received the flyer in the mail, or found it flying in the streets. But who would let go of coupons like that, considering that besides the PS3 deal, there's deals for other systems, games, and gift packs as well? Anyway, the offer is good from January 12 (well, today) until January 18, or while supply lasts.

A good deal? Well, the PS3 is backwards-compatible with many PS2 titles, and for those titles that aren't back-compatted yet, Sony did say they were working on that. And it does knock off a hundred bucks from the PS3's price tag. Unless you're the type to collect the classic consoles you own, a hundred saved is a hundred earned, saith Benjamin Franklin. (Okay, he said "a penny", but he forgot to account for inflation).

» no way...

sounds tempting but no...I've put to much time and effort to play my ps2 backups off the hard drive and other hacks to give it up that easily.

» 2/18/07

according to the flyer, the coupon expires on February 18, 2007. if that's a misprint, they should still be able to be held to it regardless.

i planned on getting a PS3 anyway (20gig or 60gig, doesn't matter), but to get one with $100 shaved off, even if i have to trade in my PS2 is well worth it.

» Print Out The Ad

A pdf of this ad is available for printout...

BTW...The 2/18/07 date printed on the PS3 part of the ad is most likely a typo and as it says on the website, they are not responsible for typos!

» Wow

It's a good deal but I already have a PS3. If there was a coupon on PS3 games then I would be interested.

» Objection!

Clearly this person has no idea what its like to work in retail. I believe a quote can sum all this up.

"The customer is always right...

the custome is always an as shole"

Also it is quite obvious he is taking his knowledge of a single places and using it as widespread knowledge. That's conjecture and most be stricken from the record!

Take That!

» crap offer

Who buys a used PS2 for only $10 less than a new one? I guess morons who shop at EB games or Gamestop. If I really didn't want my PS2 anymore I would sell it on ebay.
