A couple of weeks ago, whispers of a next-gen Prince of Persia title were heard online. In fact, the whispers were so loud, that we even got some leaky concept art for it. Soon after, we got an update to the rumor, which pretty much confirmed the title for both the PS3 and 360 with the first few details. Today, well... we're not sure exactly what to make of today's update... Check this screencap from online retail store Play.com:

Prince of Persia: Ghost of the Past revealed? - Image 1

Did the online UK retail store accidentally leak out two glaring details about the Ubisoft's title? From this product posting on their site, we can glean two things:
  • the full title is Prince of Persia: Ghost of the Past
  • it'll be released on September 1, 2007
The only hang-up here is that this was only found on the Xbox 360 listings. When we tried looking for it (or any vague reference to any sort of Prince of Persia game) on the PS3, the search didn't reveal any results. Looking at things positively though, for PS3-owners, it might only be a matter of time before we hear any more confirmation about the PS3 version. It could, after all, be under a different sub-title which Ubisoft hasn't revealed yet.

Speaking of the developers, we've yet to hear anything official about these details. The last thing we heard from them was that they planned to release the game in 2008. To now see it scheduled on Play.com to come out this year (in just a few months' time, no less) sure makes us eager for more info. No doubt about it: we'll keep you guys updated.

# This is not the new cover for prince of persia (proof included)Guest 2007-04-05 07:44
on soundtrackcolle ctor.com, I recently found that the above cover is the same cover of the Prince of Persia: The Official Trilogy Soundtrack and it was released in 2005 in the states. It seems that the retailer is trying to fake the cover till the official release and decided to stretch out vertically the cover of the soundtrack since it is not very known. I even got a picture with its details:
