Ó
IGN recently had the chance to shoot virtual hoops with the ballers of NBA 2K7 with a PS3 test unit, and they simply had this to say about the game: "...if you thought you were watching a real game on the 360, just wait till you see it on the PS3." Also, the PS3 game won't simply be a port of the 360 version, the next-gen console's version will have so much more than what the game currently offers with the 360.
Aside from the visuals though, the site's preview covers a lot of other game elements such as AI, gameplay upgrades, how the tilt controller will be used to shoot hoops, and also how the online play will be integrated into the game just in time for the title's release. We won't bore with you grueling details so we'll just give you important snippets from the preview:
- a lot of shot animations added in the post and new gameplay upgrades.
- the team from Visual Concepts put in extra time in the motion capture studios to enhance the realism on the court.
- the computational power of the system is being used to enhance a large number of the standard features that the game is known for.
- shooting free throws will be done by tilting the controller back and then leaning it forward. This can be done with minor movements, but you can also hold and tilt the controller as you would hold an actual basketball.
- you can also throw off free throw shots by shaking their controller whenever the other team steps up to the line, thus shaking the screen in an attempt to throw the timing of the shot off.
- the PS3 renders pixels gives the game a richer appearance than the 360 version, making the game look more organic and life-like.

Already, atleast 2 3rd party games have online support.

I seen a long list of specs for RSX and xbox360 gpu and one I can remember was how many pixels per cycle and per second and RSX's was lower then xbox360's.
So seeing what they say here is the other way around lol.

Apparently it's also renders better looking pixels (as the devs here state) and coupled with Cell that's a hell of a console. The fact that they're able to have better AI in the PS3 version is awesome. Thank god Visual Concepts isn't like EA, who just seems to half-ass everything.

LOL! The ignorance is strong in this one. ;)

Forgot to respond to this point. The PS3 doesn't render better looking pixels in general, what the dev is saying is that with the improvements they've made to the game, the way the pixels are being rendered in the PS3 version results in a richer appearance compared to the older 360 version. IGN haven't quoted the dev's exact words, but instead they've paraphased it. This kind of paraphrasing often leads to mis-interpretation, as the recent arguements on the AI in Assassin's Creed on the 360 version proves (also from comments in IGN);
http://ps3.qj.net/Assassin-s-Creed-360-To-Feature-Better-Crowd-AI-/pg/49/aid/67847
http://ps3.qj.net/360-Assassin-s-Creed-has-better-crowd-AI-Heck-no/pg/49/aid/68652
The PS3 is slightly more powerful than the 360. The GPUs are of similar power, so it's not damage control by ATI as you claim, since unified shaders are more efficient and therefore get more out of the hardware (which is why NVidia's next PC GPU will also feature unified shaders). The Cell processor has an advantage for floating-point power, the CPU in the 360 has an advantage for general code. but I won't go into detail here.
Anyway, don't take my word for it, here's what a dev working with BOTH consoles had to say about them;
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/704/704524p2.html
"IGN: What is it like to program and design the game for Xbox 360 versus the PlayStation 3?...
Magnus Högdahl: The PS3 will have a content size advantage with Blu-ray and a CPU advantage for titles that are able to utilize a lot of the SPUs. The Xbox 360 has a slight GPU advantage and its general purpose triple-core CPU is relatively easy to utilize compared to SPUs. I expect that it will be near impossible to tell Xbox 360 and PS3 screenshots apart."
