With the excitement from Sony Computer Entertainment's recent first party title Uncharted: Drake's Fortune finally dying down, IGN was able to talk to Amy Hennig, director of the game, about the post production moments as well as their experience making the action explorer title for the PlayStation 3.Considering the rather low key beginnings of the game, Hennig was rather happy with the success the game was able to garner since its release. The good reception Uncharted was able to receive came as a rather unexpected but pleasant surprise for her and the development team..
She mentioned that there were still several elements that she wanted included in the game, like lengthier gunplay setups and a better balance between exploration and combat, but in the overall scheme of things, she had no regrets with how the game came out.
She also mentioned the advantage of having a first-party developer work on the title as everyone focused all their energy, talent and resources into the game, while making extensive use of the PS3's Cell processor and SPUs.
However, those of you expecting funky downloadable outfits for Drake and Elena will have to shelf those ideas since Hennig mentioned that they have nothing else planned for the title asides from its future integration with Home. Said Hennig:
We don't currently have any plans for downloadable content – instead, we included all our bonus content as unlockables right on the game disc. We're excited about future integration with Home, though, and are looking forward to supporting Home with additional content when we're able to.
Perhaps that's something they have in store for the sequel. Who knows? In the meantime, we'll keep our eyes out for more updates as we get them.
