In another E3 surprise, Valve's co-founder Gabe Newell appeared at Sony's E3 press conference to announce Portal 2 for the PS3, saying that it will be "the best console version of the game."
The ever outspoken PS3 critic said:
"When the PlayStation 3 was introduced, I was the one of the platform’s biggest critics. However, Sony has proved that the PlayStation 3 is the most open platform of all the current generation consoles and has worked extremely hard to make the platform the most desirable for consumers and developers."
"As such, we are delighted to announce Portal 2 for the PlayStation 3 and believe the Steamworks support included will make it the best console version of the game."
Portal 2 will released on the PS3, PC, Mac, and Xbox 360 on 2011.

Gabe isn't the type of guy who does something without a good reason. If they couldn't get Source running on the PS3, this announcement wouldn't have been made.

It doesn't matter because in the end Valve are the ones getting EVERYONE's money.

Wouldn't it be nice if they updated the horrible port of Orangebox on the PS3? Probably not possible since it was published by EA and they had nothing to do with it, although it would be nice. Maybe we'll also see Left 4 Dead on the PS3 soon. Ahhh, wishful thinking.
