Porn king thinks adult movies have "real potential" on PSN |

Now that the Japanese porn industry has gotten a foot in the PS3's on-demand service door, some other purveyors of visual erotica have expressed interest in joining them. One of these is Vivid Entertainment, widely regarded as the world's largest adult video producer.
Steven Hirsch, who heads Vivid Entertainment, has called on Sony to open the PlayStation Network and allow adults to download HD adult movies from the service. This is currently being offered in Japan by DDM, who has offered Blu-ray-quality porn flicks for download.
“[DDM’s launch] is a good start. We hope that Sony will allow adult movies to be downloaded worldwide," Hirsch told MCV. "As long as proper age verification is in place there is no reason why consumers should not be allowed to view adult movies on any device that they desire."
Hirsch has yet to send any official requests to Sony, but he believes that having some of Vivid's material -- which includes such titles as Debbie Does Dallas... Again and Filthy's First Taste (gotta love that title) -- hosted on PSN has some "real potential".
"ItÂ’s too early to say to what extent this could help our business, but it certainly has real potential," said Hirsch.

America would never let that happen. Thier conservative base is too uptight about sex to ever let porn be available on a machine that they think of as "for kids". Most video stores in the US don't even carry porn. They act as if the world will come to an end if they (or a teenager) see's people having sex, which is a natural and normal thing that we all will do some day, and none of us would be here if not for it. But they have no issues with themselves (or their children) watching action movies where people get shot and killed, which is actually a sin and illegal! You explaing that one to me?
pretty much wrong on every count. First in the US and Canada porn is illegal for under 18 and it is a sin to watch, masturbate or pleasure sex. if my parent found out that the ps3 had a porn system they would surely disallow the use of the ps3. and killing in movies we all know is fake whereas sex is real you cant fake that. so yeah like i was saying think before you speak/comment especially when you have no information on the topic and you just watch it and dont find out the fact. another thing is i like girls just like everyone but porn would be horrible it would be considered a sex system girls would hate the system and i would have to hide the feature.

WTF???? seriously, what are you talking about. the porn wouldn't be for YOU to watch anyways, as you are underage and the article states that it would be age-gated somehow. now, for us adults, i think why the hell not? if i can stream porn videos to my 360 or ps3 from my pc than why can't i download it straight to the console itself?

First of all wether you agree with it or not, porn is illegal for kids under 18 to purchase not watch. And why is it illegal for a 17 year old to buy porn but not a rated R action movie where people are getting killed. Are you trying to say that it's better for an underage person to watch someone getting killed than watching people having sex. One act is illegal, the other is not! And if you are saying that having porn on your ps3 makes it a sex system just lets me know that you are included in that backwards thinking conservative group that I am taking about. If porn makes the ps3 a sex system, then is your TV and DVD Player sex systems? Because you can watch porn on all of them. And maybe you should grow up, get educated and think for yourself before you speak/comment!

The roots and age of each other are very important in the opinion make. ‘Tainogunslinger’ and ‘D.Dark’ are right on their opinions but we must understand the ‘PSNDonutDude’ point of view. I’m European and almost 40 years old and pornography on PSN isn’t that bad for me. But I understand that could find some resistance on the conservative part of our “modern society”.

Personal choice should be respected, regardless of whether or not you agree on it. Voltaire, one of the greatest Liberal minds once said, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." The suppression of free ideas is the true 'plague of mankind'. As far as the porn, as a parent I feel as though I have to avoid letting my children see BOTH sex and violence. A simple solution is to simply not allow PSN Cards to purchase pornographic material, that way you need a real credit card to purchase it. Speaking from an adult standpoint, I am equally as disgusted that in our culture we are fascinated by violence while sex is some kind of deviant behavior. A movie with people being slaughtered (sAw for example) gets an R-rating, but a movie with a vivid sex scene is given NC-17. everyone has a right to thier own opinion and we all have to respect that. What I don't agree with is conservatives trying to force others to live by thier views even if you don't agree with them. Also, if your going to have a view on something, at least use what god gave you think it through first. It just doesn't make sense to me to demonize pornography while you happily watch movies where people are getting killed (or far worse tortured, like in SAW)!
