PlayTV update 1.01 now available

Here's something for PS3 gamers in the UK. If you own the PlayTV peripheral, you should know that the first update for the device is now available for download, weighing in at 19 MB.

SCEE didn't give any formal announcements, so we are left to our own devices to figure out what's new.

According to tipster Gt4kill3r, changes in v1.01 give you faster loading of the TV guide, and better recording. Wikipedia concurs, saying that:

• The Guide now loads data much quicker than previously with all data.
• Recoded programs now contain fewer glitches.

Could they simply mod the European version so it works here in the US with minor modifications? I mean, modders can make xbox 360 and wii play back-ups, maybe this could be done?

different signal type i think..so most likely will always be incompatible...unless sony brings a US version.

Damn i thought QJ just wasn't interested in PlayTV updates. It's been available for the past few days, haven't noticed any changes yet.

this is only for PAL areas. us NTSC or those SECAM users cant use this. guess we're gonna have to wait and see if sony makes different versions for us:)
