PlayStation Move to launch in these three flavors

As announced by Sony back in E3, PlayStation Move will come bundled with the hardware you'll need to make it work. By "hardware", I mean the PS3 and the PlayStation Eye. Depending on which one/s of those you already have, you'll have the option of deciding between these three packages.

If you don't have a PS3 or are in need of a new one, there's the package that bundles a PS3, a copy of Sports Champions, a PlayStation Eye, and the PlayStation Move. This package retails for US$ 399.99.

If you already have a PS3 but not a PlayStation Eye, then you want the PlayStation Move Bundle, which gives you the same stuff above, minus the PS3 unit. This one retails at US$ 99.99.

If Move is all you need, you can just go standalone for US$ 49.99 (pictured left below).

To be sold separately from all those will be the PlayStation Move Navigation controller, which serves as a complement to the main motion controller. It's entirely optional, and for the games that'll need a secondary controller, the PS3 controller will do evertyhing that this one does. This one will retail at US$ 29.99 (pictured right above).

Why does it need a Playstation Eye anyway? Surely the Move uses the same motion control thing as the PS3 controllers. I guess the Eye is for ducking and weaving and crap like that right? I dont think it's worth it but thats just me.

Actually the Move uses the camera as it's motion detection. That's a hilariously simplified summary of it on my part, but the PS Eye is entirely necessary. You can just Google it to be told the long version of my first sentence.

It looks like Sony isn't being M$ when it comes to hardware. Usually it's like New controller and eyetoy: $120 Nothing less but always something more...

Who's going to want to use a move controller plus a normal controller? You can't use it with one hand.

So.....are they going to make games that require the use of both or not? If so then it will pretty much be a requirement to use the navigation controller.

I'd like to see move and the navigation controller bundled together for less then $80.

$64.95

# the nav control...Datnizzle 2010-07-14 17:28
Is just the right side of the controller.you could easily hold a ds3 in your right hand and play or buy the nav. I like thatt you have a choice. Ill probly just buy 2 moves. Depends on the games that come out. COU(Demon's Souls 2?)GH COUGH.

The DS3 would be in your left hand not your right. The buttons on the nav controller replace the left triggers and left analog.

# RE: the nav control...Snaku 2010-07-14 23:12
Exactly, but you got them backwards. The nav is the LEFT side of the controller. It's easy enough to hold a ds3 in one hand if you only need the buttons on that side.

I'm not making any plans on buying a Move yet (there'll have to be some killer titles for it before I'll drop the money on a camera and the controller), but if I do, I won't be getting a nav. The ds3 will do just fine for me.

Off subject, but will the move definitely require the ps3 PsEye? I mean, will it work with a ps2 eyetoy? (I ask because they're the same resolution: the only thing missing from the eyetoy is the mic)

I doubt the ps2 eyetoy will be compatible. Mainly because it maxes out at 320X240 @ 60fps. Where the PS3Eye can do 320X240 @ 120 fps and 640X480 @ 60 fps.

Not to mention I am sure sony just wants you to buy the new cameras :P

As it was already mentioned, I think you meant the left hand. I tried and it's not comfortable at all. Easy to drop. Guess my hands are just too big.

Plus, have any of you played with it for an hour like that? You have to strain more to hold it that way.

I still say no. At least for us big guys.

I already got the camera and the PS3.
$50 / €50 is just too much, too expensive. I'll just pass until some promotion comes around.

Btw, I wonder if we'll see a 3rd party version of this?

well in europe the prices are similar, but the bundle is cheaper! At around 55 pounds looks pretty cheap! I'll buy them all and do motion the proper way, with proper games!

I need just a $50 move controller and Im set. Maybe add in the $30 nav controller if I need it.. but even then thats like the price of 1 new game.

Can we buy sports champions separately...thats the real question. If we can is it going to be a pricey game ?

I will buy a move controller for $50 as that's all I need, but I would like a game to play with it....and if I have to pay even $30 for sports champs, then I might as well buy the f'ing bundle....but then I have two ps3 eyes. That I wouldn't mind if it worked flawlessy on the PC, but it doesnt....
