PlayStation Move ad takes a jab at the Wii and Natal

Sony's resident PlayStation VP for lots of stuff, Kevin Butler, is at it again, this time in a video ad for their upcoming motion controller, PlayStation Move. Watch how he takes a jab at the Wii and Natal below.

The sleek and wireless PlayStation Move motion controller is expected to arrive before the end of the year.

dude seriously go do some research and you will look more like a dumb ass than you already are. Sony copied no one the move has been in development since 2003. Ok it looks weird but the main thing is that it feels comfortable in your hand.

They came up with the idea for the Move in 2003, that doesn't necessarily mean development began back then.
Also, development on the Wii remote began back in 2001.

it seems like microsoft and sony started to push these motion controller after they saw the Wii getting fame for the motion controllers. i give credit to wii for breaking the mold but boo sony and microsoft for no be adventures. more so sony cuz its like a copy of the wii. microsoft at least is doing something new (and i have a wii ps3 and xbox. im not just a fan boy for wii)

Actually that is pretty smart of Sony. Why reinvent the wheel when you can just take a wheel and make it better. Every smart company does that. And thank God they do, otherwise we would still be driving cars with a crankshaft or have mobile phones as big as bricks.

PS. Wiimote uses infared sensors. Move used camera motion tracking (similar to motion capture) which are two entirely different things.

All reports say the current build of the move is more inaccurate and less responsive than a base Wiimote, not even talking about a motion plus variety.

We also see how badly sony dropped the ball on the Sixaxis stuff. I dont have much hope for this particular bit of garbage.

there's videos of the new build being used to play SOCOM 4 and Resident Evil 5 and it tracks perfectly to the cross-hairs. If your going to troll at least try to look intelligent instead of making stuff up.

Though to answer your questions:
pookiepoo - The guy is using a PS Move and the Numchuck (not actually called this) it works the same as the Wii Numchuck but is wireless. They are saying $100 for the BUNDLE (read carefully) thats a PlayStation Eye, PlayStation Move & Numchuck and a game simular to Wii Sports. So thats why it is a little more expensive. You can obviously buy the PS Move on its own for cheaper.

hypercoyote360 - No, it is not just a light up ball, it also has buttons and motionsenses in it, like the DualShock 3, this is for the PS Move to be detectable when it is not in front of the camera. The software is the best part, you can do magical things with even the worst hardware, so you should think a little more highly of the software side of this, i just pray to god that Sony supports this fully and goes all the way with it, i will be buying 8, i have two PS3s that are always being played by my family of 6, plus when we have family over (im wog so thats every day and night)

The PS Move is only a quarter into development, i beleive i read this on Gizmodo or one of the many sites i visit daily. So wha you see now is not much of a representation of the final product. Think of the final product

That's it! I'm selling my 360 and my Wii, and sticking to my PS3. This commercial did it. After people see this video they will all be getting rid of their other consoles. Forget Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Halo, Fable, Gears, Forza etc. This controller beats all that experience.

Aside from the very move vs natal vs wiimote coments, we have to recognize that this commercial, is funny and inteligent, while not mentioning the company names, he mention the characteristics of the competitors, in a very cleaver way.

I'd rather use the Move than a Wii controller to play games. When you think about it the Sensor Bar is a real annoyance and the movements use to control characters or certain actions during the game could be used by swinging the Wii Remote in any motion. I'm not a fan boy, but I do like the Move better than the Wii controller. Way to go Sony. Big ups for thinking outside the box. If the Move becomes more successful than the Wii what will be Nintendo's response? Just think about how much more game developers will be able to create with this controller. Sony will be able to enter Nintendo's realm now. And the games will look a lot better because the Wii can't compete with the PS3 when it comes to visuals.

Im selling my 360 for this one. The guy in the add was right. You need buttons for not making a fool out of yourself like you do with natal.

I like the whole concept. Better graphics then the wii.

The whole concept is developed by sony too.

Microsoft stole the camera idea from sony.

Even nintendo bought the controller from another company.

Beside that... The whole concept of motion tracking on consoles was developed by sony.

So nintendo and microsoft.. KISS MY ...

Sony was telling the truth and it is sony that deservers my respect.

The one that's telling me this controller looks like a sex toy is still a virgin.. They never saw a real naked girl with a sex toy ;) otherwise they knew what it look like.

So.. My 360 is gone! And my ps3 is the way to go. I still have my 60 gig from launch day in europe. It never broke down on me.

I have been a ps3 owner since launch day.
I bought the pseye hoping i would get some good use out of it. Ever since I saw the Move, I had been on the fence about it. This commercial really made me think. Bold move, Sony, but it was definitely worth it. I'd love to see this ad on TV soon. I just really hope that Sony supports it, but does not shift its main focus to it.

For those who said "sony is copying" I don't know why I am even responding, but Sony has been a company of innovation and improvement. (DVDs/CDsBlu-ray/HDDs/pressure sensitive buttons in consoles, two analogue sticks, rumble in controllers, Eyetoy, the list goes on)-by the way I know all of those aren't completely new ideas.

For those who really think that Sony is copying anything, you really need to waek upo and understand the technology industry, heck almost any industry.
