PlayStation Move ad sends a clear message to the Wii |

It's no secret, Sony has no qualms about bashing the competition. You can always tell with their ads. Kevin Butler makes a good example. The last ad was a celebration of buttons that Kinect didn't have, so now it's the Wii's turn. With PlayStation Move launching tomorrow, Sony winds up for the kill and literally takes a big swing at a poor Mii.

The move uses 4.8 gigs of processing power to do the math instead of an NES reconfigured into a remote with a camera in it....
Reply
yes not in the main-stream in the way the wii-mote brought it.
the only thing sony stole, is the effort and marketing the wii put into motion control
reasons
1. The wiimote has a camera, and leds are in the sensor bar
the move controller doesnt have a camera instead its the 'led' and the pseye the camera
if you are trying to say nintendo idea of using light to track things, was new, then your very mistaken
also lets not forget the eyetoy here, only thing nintendo did was swap back
thats like shouting at tv manufacturer just because remotes tend to look like a bar (mmmmmm, wimote, remote)

So what is the next format? Probably Violet-Ray discs. Sony is the only one doing it. Also did you know that Nintendo and Sony was going to team up and make an optical drive system back during the NES/SNES days? Nintendo pretty much shot it down though so Sony decided to come up with their own play station but Nintendo was still too hard headed and thought cartridges were still better but now what do they use?
Reply
Yeah cartridge based gaming worked so well for the N64 that Nintendo decided to dump cartridges in favor of CD based games for the GameCube. And DVDs are working so well for the Xbox 360 that they brought back Disk Swapping because DVDs have so much space in them that they render the 50gigs of Bluray virtually useless, nevermind that 360 owners got FF13 on 2 discs while PS3 owners got it in one disk with better framerate and superior graphics. Don't even get me started on HDDVD
Reply
too true, if microsoft had of put games on HD-DVD to make it a needed format for xbox360, the blu ray vs HD DVD war either still be raging, or by sheer number of xbox fans, the HD DVD format would of won.
microsofts mistake was not putting the HD DVD drive in the xbox360 as standard drive.

Blu-ray suceeded primarily -because- of Sony.

Halo Reach is actually really fucking good compared to the other Halo games.
Anyway, no plans on buying a Move. It's really not appealing to me at all. I got the Wii, but not because of the Wiimote. I got the Wii because it's Nintendo, and Nintendo is awesome.

the only thing they are awesome at is making you pay for yesterdays technology again today with simple little gimicks like wiimote and touchscreen

Le Stick – The First Motion Sensitive Joystick Controller
classicgames.about.com/od/consoleandhandheldgames/p/LeStickProfile.htm
Two and a half decades before Nintendo came on the scene with the Wii, video game developers DataSoft Inc. tried their hand at creating the world's first motion sensitive video game controller. Designed for use with the Atari 2600 and Commodore 64, the Le Stick released just two years before the Crash of the Video Game market. With a highe price tag, and no titles designed to support it, the Le Stick lived a brief, albeit historic, existence.
The Basics:
* Year of Release: 1981
* Manufacturer: DataSoft Inc.
* Type: Joystick - Motion Sensitive
* Systems: Atari 2600, Commodore 64

All joking aside, i think Move could hold its own against the wii if it weren't for all those lazy devs waiting to release all that shovelware we all know is coming

Get the PS Move hit the giant and it's over? That sucked.
They could've been way more imaginative.
I think I'll buy PS Move but that's when they lower the price down.

I'm just not going to pay the full price for PS Move's when I could get a full console and which has a nice quantity of great exclusives.
See the options, douchebag.
Kinect won't be 200 or 250, it'll be 150 USD.
You're full of shit, Landoh.

They're still the most lucrative gaming company to exist.
Super Mario franchise must be their best selling point as it is always.
Reply
Don't need to that was obvious/predictable.
But it'll be hard for Sony to win the casual gamer battle.
Reply
Took the words right outta my mouth on all that. Kevin Butler sticking his tongue out would have been a more clever than that pile of trash.
And yeah, I don't want to dish out $80 for that stuff right now, so I'm gonna watch Craigslist. Or if I feel like getting a piece of crap knock-off from Hong Kong, I'll watch Ebay.

Like c'mon, its a nice concept. You can actually use 2 of them and have buttons to enhance the experience! Plus, the games wont all be.. mini games, to be honest. We will finally be able to play GOOD HD games with motion and eye sensor( I know already done).
Either way, I think video games should be a controller not motion stuff.. But my opinion right!

Really? Complaining about Sony ripping off the rumble feature? They didn't rip it off, they did it right.
Nintendo did it in the way that they can charge you for an extra accessory, Sony built that right in.
The only thing Nintendo perfected is squeezing every penny out of it's customers.

Wrong! Sony was going to help Nintendo do an optical media game system but Nintendo had some disagreements and so Sony decided to do the idea on their own.

sony wanted the rights to all of nintendo's first party games,of course their not going to agreed to that f***up condition.

But the advert is just terrible, not even funny, I think they rushed to do this.
Let's imagine they used Zelda/Link vs a guy/girl with PS Move, now that would've been awesome!
Reply
Was that a Mii or an Xbox 360 avatar? Good thing Sony doesn't force us to have some lame goofy character on the XMB. I hate the 360's idea of making you have to have a gay character on the dashboard.

As for the Move, it really all depends on word-of-mouth, functionality, and 3rd party support. This really does look amazing to use, but will it have relevance in 3 yrs. or so? We shall see.
On a side note, EVERY gaming company, actually EVERY company for that matter, is guilty of trying to get more of your money. That's their job. It's how a business is run. They are selling a product and they want you to buy it. They are in a particularly powerful position because they have a product that they KNOW people will pay top-dollar for. The only power you have as a consumer is to not buy that product if you think it's too expensive.

Oh yes, and Sony put a lot of heart on advertising, but really..won't compete on the casual gamer market...they came 3 years late to the party.

and saw a lot of fanboys reacting...as always.
and that's what MS, Sony and Nintendo wants. fanboys fighting with each other.. and what do we get from them for the fanboyism? NONE. just expensive stuff and sometimes broken hardware
