It's for real, guys! the next upgrade for the PlayStation Home is coming, and it's gonna be huge! From a Sony press release, and as posted on the PlayStation Blog, we receive details as to what's gonna be included in the swell package.

First of, from now on (at least from the moment the next upgrade goes live), you will be able to launch into any PS3 game directly from Home. No more of those logout hassles. For now, though, the titles that will be fully supporting game launching are Street Fighter IV, Resistance 2, MotorStorm and Far Cry 2. We're sure they'll be adding more later on, so just keep an eye out for their markers that appear as separate icons over an avatar's head. There will also be different degrees of additional multiplayer functionality built in.

They're also adding an in-store item previewing option, which will allow you to "fit" clothes into your character in 3D. You can also rent and purchase consumables (for select items). Along with these changes would be the implementation of certain tweaks with the customization of your Home experience. Additional emotes have also been put in, along with many others.

And by the way, SingStar's space will also be launched around the same time as the Home v1.3 upgrade goes live, so watch out for that as well. There'll be much  more on the list too, and they're promising to complete the line-up for your information as we near the launch.

Speaking of which, PlayStation Home v1.3 upgrade is set to go live on September - that's just a couple of weeks away, so watch out for that.

Thanks to naroon201 for the tip!

beta

Playstation home is still in the beta stage. So it still has not started this is why sony didn't want to release an open beta because people don't understand that its not the full thing.

!

@ Train04 HOME is not in Beta. There was an article on QJ where Sony spoke of how they liked the 'Beta' presence within the name. They said it shows that HOME is ever-changing and will receive updates and upgrades as it develops. This is no different from any other software/OS, so I don't agree with the merging of 'Beta' within the title. I think it's a cop-out to release something and slap "Beta" after the name, as a defence for crap programming and services... and people like you fall for it.

It's great that they add things to Home, but they seriously should a way to allow Germans to visit these spaces. Here's a quick list of spaces we CAN'T visit: Socom space Resistance space Burn,Zombie,Burn space Motorstorm space inFamous space Resident Evil 5 space ...and pretty much every upcoming space that is rated 16+

still sucks..

till they give back Voice chat anywhere like before or at best voice chat in the lobby, i will not be logging into home ever again. the whole point for me going into home was to met people and they took that out, Sure i could Buy a USB keyboard And help me in typing But to me it's not worth it when it's just better to TALK to people then sending Text.

hm?

You're saying voice chat is what makes Home "suck" ? Back when they had open world voice chat, you'd get the same idiots running over to you playing the worst possible song.. why would you want that back? They've still got it so you can talk to them on your headset by calling them, though they have to be your friend first. Surely a simple "wanna voice chat" isnt hard to do. Also, even though this sounds pretty good, Home will still be boring and 80% of the community are [insert bad word here]. And even with this new update, Home will probably still be boring, EU will still be months behind.

...

Just because VERY few people Did that you vote to take it all down and Make the people who liked it for it's ease of talking to people to be punished. And the whole add to friends then calling to talk to someone 2inchs in front of me i fine just to retarded, i can't even understand how no one does not see how dumb that is. And to fix the whole Guy coming up to you with Music playing (Block HIM) So many things can be done to stop the dumb people like him, So sony Needs to stop punishing Us for their Dumb sh*t.

home

lags too much. it takes way too much bandwidth. the themed areas are a waste of developers money and time. all you can do is go and stare at a room that looks like the games you either have or want. the only thing in home that is worth any of my time is bowling with friends.

character loading times

Character load times are what need work. It often takes a full minute or two to load everyone in a room sometimes. There are plenty of MMO type games that load everybody's custom character in alot less time than this. Clearly it can be done, and they should really work on it. Entering an area and seeing everybody as a ghost for two minutes is really lame.

Very true.

I hate that as well and i have a Very good connection having a 20mb cable line. I was so happy when Home came out And for about 3weeks Home was really good With Fast loading, talking, and a filling of really getting to know people But then they *****ed it all up.
