It looks like SCEI is ready to fire up PlayStation Home another notch in Japan. They just sent out a press release inviting users in the country to apply for the closed beta. Around 10,000 users will be selected via lottery, so everyone there has a decent chance of getting in.
Users must be over 18 years of age and must apply anytime between July 31st and August 11th. They must also use the Home account with their user accounts because it's non-transferable.
This might be both a good sign and a bad sign depending on how bad you want to experience Home. It's a good sign because we can see that Home is definitely moving along, and it could be bad because this can only mean that the open beta will take a wee bit longer to hit us all. Oh, well.

I'm not sure if it's a good sign or a bad one.
It might be that the bugs are almost done fixing and they need more people to test and find them, or they want to test stability issues they are experiencing.
All in all, we do know that all the pushbacks also mean that more money has to be put into it, and for the home project to be sucessful business wise, it'll have to bring in more cash than it costed to creat it.
Do they intend to have more console sales with that service, or will there be a lot of paying content inside it? I guess only time will tell.
