PlayStation Home details: age restriction, random weather, money system, more

A new batch of details for PlayStation Home was revealed in a little Q&A between Home staffers and beta testers.

We don't have official confirmation from Sony that this info is legit, but users from the PS3Forums claim that the official guys from Home were Lucas_Star, CyndoniaX, and Tdog.

The users also say the the meeting was posted on the message of the day, and took place at Home's Central Plaza at 8-10 p.m. Eastern. But let's move on to what you want to hear. The details they say were revealed during the meeting were:

Open Beta will hit either on December 15 or 30
Open Beta will be restricted to 18+
Censor on swearing will be lifted in the Full Beta
A random weather system
A money system

According to one of the users, the money system will work this way: "You earn money from collecting trophies. And you will get money for the trophies you already have." Could this be the "Trophy reward system" OPM heard wind about last month?

Since we haven't heard of any official confirmation from Sony, we'll have to tag all of these as rumors for now.

1st of all the home beta managers would NOT give out a release date to anyone. and yes there was a meet and greet last night. but the managers were hopping servers in those 2 hrs so not much time was spent with them. personal i got on for a little bit and looked around and didnt see them. and for 18+ only for home. i doubt it, b/c that would leave out alot of ppl. there has been talk of 18+ only servers but has never been confirmed. and the trophy = money i dunno either. probably, if its true, will be used in home an probably not the psn store. im hoping the random weather is true tho. and the censor being lifted i dunno. i dont see why they would get rid of it as it would offend alot of ppl.

I don't believe this.

I was in Home for the meeting and saw Locust_Star and nothing special happen, he actually left pretty quickly. The only thing he was doing was dancing with other people. Unless he went on and moved to different groups, but it looked like he logged out because he disappeared.

I do hope that these features get into home, but I'll wait for word from Sony to see if this holds any truth.

Thank god I set my age wrong when I made my PS3 account. I actually had no idea Sony would be ageist with Home but when I got my PS3 I was only 16 and wanted to be able to download M rated games so I set it wrong. Thank God I got it when I did or I would have set it to my right age and not be able to play. And in that case, you can bet I would never had purchased another PlayStation game again. Anyway, I hope to see it on December 15th (though I'm sure it wont be out till December 30th, knowing Sony) and I hope it works good on my old SDTV.

Regarding that age restriction, I've just received the beta invite, and the last few words on the email say "users under 18 require parental consent". So it's not that restricted

due to rules i cant really mention much about the happs around home.i will say this however.i got an sdtv and home works fine with it,so youll have no issues ;)

I ran my Home Beta in 480p (standard) on my HD TV NO problems what so ever so standard TV Gamists should have NO problems

Yes, they both are ageist. Too many people dont realize it but restricting something, anything, soley on the basis of age is ageist.
