PlayStation Home Countdown page spotted, beta coming late March?

PlayStation Home Countdown - Image 1

If you're still worried about PlayStation Home's fate, even after the assurance of Sony itself that development is still ongoing despite Phil Harrison's departure - then this should settle your nerves: the countdown for the virtual world/reality service's beta release has been spotted. Yes, a countdown page, with only a counter and the PlayStation Home Beta logo on it. Nothing else, except the promise that PlayStation Home is coming.

Just when will this countdown end, you ask? Well, as of this writing, the counter says that we have only 22 days left - which points to a March 20 release. No, we haven't quite received official word from Sony about this - but as far as release dates go, this seems pretty feasible. Now it's all just a matter of staying sane while the pretty numbers wind down to oblivion. Updates as we get them.

Thanks to Caspre12 for the tip!

» WTF?

» Fake

its deffinetly fake, i went to the site on my PC, PSP, and Mylo, all 3 showed different times. . .

by Mic2000 - 2008-02-25 19:54
» Problem with different times:

The problem is that when you start the website with the counter, the counter reads your computer date/time. So if i'm in a different Time Zone(Amsterdam) then you guys, so that explains why my timer is still on 22 days / 15 hours / 06 minutes

» likley fake

id say this is almost certainly a fake. if it was official it would be linked back to a sony page. also the logo is just copied straight from the home beta trials page. but i do think that the date would be about right it is the 31st of march that the private beta for home is scheduled to end.

Here I was all excited. It's totally fake. Because, yes, if it was an official countdown, it would be on an SCE website of some kind, not some random graphic designer's page. It's either them putting out a fake, or someone just stumbled across a project for school or something not meant to be taken seriously, which obviously ended up happening anyway.

» do people think

their really going to release an open beta?

I'm starting to think it's too late for an open beta and that they'll release the full version of Home for everyone. Would'nt it be dissapointing if only some people (again) get into the open beta and the others have to wait even longer for it?

When we get word I think it'll be on full release, not the beta.

I was thinking the same thing.

I doubt its going to be a another beta, from what i heard Home is supposed to be released around March. This could be telling us 22 days left for Home. After all, SCE did say Home coming very soon, coincidence, i think not.

So i don't think its a fan site.

» Not this again

This came up on GameFAQs a week ago. It's a fake. Check the page source:

*QJ won't let me post the code source :(*

Why would an official Sony page have an invisible counter on it? And even then, why are they using some other websites counter, and not their own?

I guess we just have to wait exactly 21 days, 11 hours and 40 minutes to see if it's real or not... XD

» but...

but before the ps3 came out and sony made the www.playb3yond.com site, it wasn't tied to sony then either. and if i remember right it had a clock...
