The senior director of the Playstation Network, Susan Panico, has finally shed some light on the mysterious trademark they filed for some time ago: the interactive online magazine Qore.

According to her description, Qore is "a highly interactive, monthly lifestyle gaming program covering the world inside Playstation." She said that the program will feature exclusive news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at PlayStation games.

Sounds pretty good right? It gets even better. Those who subscribe to the service will also be getting access to special game demos, beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content. In addition, the program is filmed in full HD and will be hosted by the beautiful Veronica Belmont.

You're probably asking how much this will cost you? Panico gave word that the service subscription fees have been pegged at US$ 24.99 for 13 episodes. However, users may also pick up each episode individually for US$ 2.99 each.

Still not sure whether you should pick it up? Why not check out this video to find out more about this upcoming service from Sony.

» Is this a joke? paying for news?

If it's not free, they won't see me there... But if it would be free, I'd check like I check Qj or the ps-blog.

» Its better than buying PSM

but im still not buying it.

by RexNox - 2008-06-03 08:15
» it's basically...

pay to play beta access.

by Someone_PR - 2008-06-03 08:28
» well..

something like that lol.. but is an interactive magazine with host and all... I really like this idea. Maybe 25 it's a little more that maybe I will want to pay but it's just that the ps3 owners is so adapt to receive everything free that when they charge for something we whining.

» question...

13 episodes.. does that mean like subcribing to a year of qore? like pretty much subscribing to PSM mag for a year? so wut im tryin to ask is it pretty much like paying $24 for a years worth of qore????

by Enrico S. - 2008-06-03 09:07
» That's pretty much correct

They will be releasing an episode every month. I'm guessing the 13th issue will be a holiday release or something to that effect. Hope this helps answer your question.

by NarooN - 2008-06-03 10:36
» why the hell not?

Are you all a bunch of cheapskates? You can pay 60 bucks for one game, but 25 bucks for 13 months is too much? Just wow. Either get some jobs or throw your systems out the window..

With all the stuff they offer, hell yes I'll subscribe. You'll probably learn some stuff about your favorite games that you didn't even know, and probably get access to demos and add-ons that won't be available anywhere else.

I think what people are really scared of is that what was free (videos and demos) is now going to now going to be tied to this paid service. Priority of content to going to go to Qore. I think it's funny that Sony is running this, so basically there are charging people for their own promotional content. I think it would be better for them if this was a free service that everyone to access so the consumer can focus on buying PS3 content rather than taking away content that people aren't going to pay a subscription to access.

by NarooN - 2008-06-03 11:18
» nah.

Sony already has an official magazine that's been running for YEARS. People have to pay for all magazines, and this is a virtual magazine with tons of extras, so people will pay for this too.

Only a skeptical idiot would assume that the entire PSN service such as online gameplay, demos, etc. will be a paid service soon. That wouldn't make sense and it'd be too hard to convert from free-to-paid in one generation.

And if people want to get news and such, just less of it, they can always get the non-virtual magazine and/or go to the official PlayStation website.

Well I never said the entire PSN content would come under this.

I think it particulary demos that are the issue. There will be (without a doubt ) demos that will take longer to come out for free because of this service. I can just see it now, LBP demo exclusive to Qore for a limited time. This is just a new way to tier the PSN network. Rather than getting ALL contentout as fast as possible to everyone on PSN, they are going to look at Qore first. Push back the free content to promote the paid content.

Anyway, that just my opinion. I think the service will do really well, and is a smart move by Sony.

» so your point is...

If we wouln't be homeless dudes that have no money, we would absolutly buy this?

1st: Everybody here has a job, BUT the dudes that post things like "FIRST" and stuff like that.

2nd: So you think it's abnormal to pay 60$ to play a game if we're not paying 25$ to listen to... people talking about games? What's the link here? I like playing games, not hearing people talk about it. lol. And when I want to learn about the new stuff, I go here, at Qj, and GameTrailers and gamespot... why? Man, they are so wrong at buisness, they do it for free, LMAO, nobody will visit their websites! (sarcasm!)

3rd:Now we should pay for the demos? no, I suppose we'll be able to pay to try them 1 week before...

4th: the ONLY reason I would buy one is for a really good beta, and that's all, and I think it's a great way to promote beta, since tons of people would pay to play in some beta (just think about a 2.5$ to have the home beta, with all the people waiting for this multiplayer interface.), but again, I think it's really cheap on us, gamers and fans, to make us pay for betas... I mean, without beta testers, they can't test their game and sell it!

Finally, some talk about magasines, that's it's the same so it's normal to pay... yeah, but NO! lol. Who really pay to read magasines? At least not about games I hope, it's free online... and updated every seconds, instead of one time per month...

That's all, sorry to post a looong text.

Many people subscribe to many magazines because you can read them anywhere and they often have exclusives. The reason why I would subscribe to this is because of the exclusive demos and betas and such. It's for a whole year so why not? But everyone has their choice. I'm not against anyone who doesn't want to get it, I just don't see why people would act like the whole service would require us to pay or something. I'm not accusing anyone who commented of that, just saying.

by Someone_PR - 2008-06-03 12:48
» amen to that...

just think about it.. how demos will be affected if this thing is a one episode in a month!... I guess we just (qore subscribers) can play demos and betas like the ones that we never have but yes the other console like cod4. Anyway if you are the kind of gut that like to subscribe to magazines you will like this with exclusive interviews. Maybe an E3 coverage or world exclusive trailers.

by [DVSDevise] - 2008-06-03 12:52
» ...

Well I'm sure most people have seen all the MGS4, Killzone 2, LBP trailers that Sony have released. They have also played all the big demos that have been released on PSN. Joined the Warhawk Beta. They read all the statements and news that Sony releases.

So did anyone really need this service? Shouldn't the Playstaton Store big the place for all the Qore content? Do you really think this service can provide extra content that couldn't easily be released for free in the PS Store?

» Doh! You Beat Me To The Punch

I just seen this on another site and was going to mention it but Qj already got it.

» @naroon

... or probably not

by groupleader - 2008-06-03 19:50
» let's try to catch up to xbox360 time

before they ttry to charge for stuff i'm ALREADY getting let's try to get good demos the SAME time as xbox. There is nothing worse than getting excited about a upcomming demo and learning that the ps3 version won't come out untill two or three weeks later.

by Eclipze_ - 2008-06-04 13:11
» My problem

I'm not about to pay for something that I can see right on this site and others like gamespot and gametrailers. I'm not about to pay for demos even if they are early. And I'm not about to pay for betas when WE the gamers are the ones actually helping them (the game developers), which if you played the MGO and Warhawk betas you'd know there was lots of problems that wouldv'e been in the full game if we didn't help out.

I don't see why I'd pay for that.. And if it does effect the PSstore, like getting demos late, then hell no I'm not gunna do this (its like telling Sony its okay to do that when its not). Just like someone said up there I can see it already, LBP demo exclusive on Qore. Even if its for a limited time its basically like saying the demo for LBP is done, but only people that pay can get it first.

I think this should either be free or not there at all. Or add all the effort on this to the PSstore.
