PlayStation 3's Stranglehold to be region-coded

Stranglehold for the PlayStation 3 - Image 1In case you're among the PlayStation 3 owners awaiting word on Stranglehold (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), we've got some bad news. Moderator Echo77 of Midway Game's Stranglehold forums has just explained that John Woo's shoot-em-up extravaganza for the PS3 will not be region free.

It appears that both the standard and collector's edition of the game will be region-coded (PAL, NTSC). The collector's ed Blu-Ray also carries a copy of the 1992 film "Hard-Boiled" starring Chow Yun-Fat, and is currently an exclusive for the US. In other news, it appears that Stranglehold's Xbox 360 and PC releases are expected to be region free.

To the first poster, it doesn't matter, you can still play the game because Japan, and the US regions for Blu Ray are the same, they are both A, so you can still get an English version.

He said he's in Australia, which is a part of the PAL region, he has a Japanese PS3, which is a part of the NTSC region. He won't be able to play the PAL version (bought from Austrlia or any other PAL region) on his PS3.

Its a PlayStation TRC that all games are region free. I think they have the wrong end of the stick here, the special addition DVD will be region locked not the game.

In the description it says that;

The standard version of the game doesn't have the movie on it, so the game it's self is region coded too, not just the movie.

If I even decide to get this game, I'll have no trouble getting a version that I can play...
