Sony's PlayStation 3 may have started off with not-so-good standing in the gaming industry, but the shiny black console looks like it's starting to regain its footing, and 2008 may very well become the Year of the PS3. This was according to BBC's Darren Waters in his blog, dot.life.Several major Sony PS3 titles are slated to be released soon, with the highly anticipated Unreal Tournament 3 recently released in the UK. Unreal Tournament 3 will no doubt be a big thing, judging by Epic Games vice president Mark Rein's enthusiastic remark: "We've surpassed what Halo 3 offered."
Epic Games' FPS isn't the only big thing in store for PlayStation 3 fans, of course. Motorstorm 2, which will be released in the upcoming holidays, will finally include four-player split-screen multiplayer mode. Resistance 2, another much-awaited title, will have online multiplayer gameplay that can accommodate as much as 60 players.
Waters was also shown a secret PS3 game currently in development during the GDC 2008 event. While he wasn't at liberty to reveal any pertinent information about this Sony PS3 title, his words indicated how big the game will be:
If the footage I was shown truly is "in game," as told to me by the Sony PR people, then we could be on the brink of a step change in what games consoles are capable of in terms of story-telling and immersion.

Rein had nothing to compare with Halo 3 since it is dated hence being similar to Halo2 PC where reviewers state it as dated. The only benchmark of Halo3 is its marketing and $ale$.
oh the agony of more games both a must buy-£0.00

OR, a spin off of halo, Haelo 3? :>

I prefer to wait until we read the views of GAMING journalists who can give a more measured opinion, and better still, wait until the game is first shown before getting excited over it (since there are fantastic looking 'secret' games in developement for PS3 AND 360).
Still, this should prove to be a VERY strong year for the PS3. :)

I play games i don't read BS reviews. One gamers disappointment is another Gold mine.

And it's funny you say gaming journalists sucks and yet you're happy to quote them whenever it suits you Stealth! (recently you were mentioning 1UPs view about how DMC4 plays better on the PS3 compared to the 360!). So don't give me that arguement please.
If you take the views of a number of game journalists together (not just one), then this gives us a FAR better idea of what a game is like than some guy from the BBC/NBC/Sky News etc.

-> Correction: views of a number of gaming journalists, preferably from several websites, not just one. If you look at only one website, like GameSpot, then you are bound to think most PS3 exclusives are not that great. GS is, in my opinion , not completely impartial, but rather unfairly biased in MS's favour. Why this is, I don't know. It may be financial incentives, it may be something else entirely.
Reason: Gamespot is, in my opinion, way too critical of all PS3 games and way too lenient of all 360 games. One example - Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank and other reviews - they will nitpick at the slightest drawbacks and not just nitpick but will blow them up so that these drawbacks are used as a reason for lowering the overall game score, while for games for Mass Effect, which have drawbacks relating to loading times, etc., they will note that the game is superb "in spite" of this, and will overlook these drawbacks in rating games for the 360. That, to me, is clearly biased.
So I do agree with Stealth's opinion that SOME gaming journalists are biased. However, I agree with your opinion too - you just have to have a large enough cross-section of gaming reviews from a multitude of gaming websites, not just one.

eemm NO. I'll be buying both! I suggest you do the same amigo!

That's what I'm saying.
The point I'm making is that just like reviews, the more you read from many sources, the better the overall view you will have (that's what I always do). This applies both to previews and reviews. And since bias can never be eliminated totally, this approach helps to even out any bias, just like review scores on Gamerankings and Metacritic.
But just the same, for gaming, I would take the comments of a gaming journalist over someone from a general news organisation every time.
So for Stealth to make a generalisation that gaming journalists suck and they are biased is foolish and hypocritical, especially since Stealth often quotes comments from those same so-called 'biased' gaming journalists to support his views here on QJ.

as for the secret game. it could be the fps series thats supposed to rival (and surpass) halo. sony mentioned it a whiiiile back when ps3 first came out. and they werent talking about resistance.
IMO i think resistance sucked. and i love fps's. i love halo but not as much as the hype. i think call of duty 4 is the best still and will be for a while.
xbox is tearing itself apart even though it has a great games library, but wait til ps3's betters, i cant wait. there both going to be worthy. which is why i have both.
