The Wall Street Journal recently ran an article about the territory the video game industry is trying to explore in terms of new controllers. Kudos were given to games such as Guitar Hero and Nintendo for the Wii and the DS. However, things got more interesting when the article shifted to Sony Games Division Senior Researcher Richard Marks.
It was mentioned that he and his team have plans of allowing players to sketch drawings with standard pen and paper, scan them with a camera, and then "play" their drawings on screen.
"Our game industry is really good at making authored experiences, but there's a new area that hasn't been explored, where people want to make their own content," Marks added. The researcher is responsible for creating the technology behind EyeToy.
He said as well that plans for live-motion capture in peoples' living rooms using a camera is also underway.

After that video I saw a while back where they were scanning in drawings and everyday items using the Playstation Eye and making their own games, I have been hoping for actual games using that technology.
I already have the Eye Toy and have downloaded all the games for it from the PSN. There is camera support in the Burnout Paradise game, which is pretty sweet too. I hope Sony continues to support new and unique forms of entertainment on the PS3 because making my own mini games using my own drawings sounds like a blast. I just hope I can share the mini games with my friends over the PSN as well.
hmm.. this somehow reminds me of "Drawn to Life". Do you now that game from the DS? You have to draw your own hero that you can play later in the game. Additionally, you can draw cars, boats and many other things that you can use after that.

Yeah, this was done already. Kind of a dorky game but it was intesting.
With PS eye and The Eye of Judgment. Its nothing new actually.
