Sony StyleThere has been a lot of talk recently about the pricing of the upcoming Playstation 3 and its software including the news coming out of the Tokyo Game Show 2006 (TGS) that the PlayStation 3 games' prices will be higher in other territories. It was speculated at TGS by Munechika Nishida (a well-known contributor to Japanese newspapers and tech magazines) that prices for the upcoming titles (for those only living in Japan) will range between $ 75 US and $ 84 US. The reason given for such a price? The rising costs of development.

Fear not though, as a quick look-over at Sony Style US reveals they have seven games available for pre-order on the PlayStation 3 and they are all set to $ 59.99 US. This includes the titles Blazing Angels, Call of Duty 3, Full Auto 2, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Sonic the Hedgehog, Tony Hawk's Project 8 and Untold Legends. According to the site, these prices are only available for pre-order, and only time will tell whether these prices will be the price as well for Japan (for all our sakes, lets hope so!).

*Sigh*

The games will be $59.99 here. They are always more expensive in Japan and Europe. Why do people have such a hard time understanding that? I mean look at the price of games for the XBOX360 in Europe/Japan. It'd be suicide for Sony to sell any higher than $59.99.

Let's See...

In other word, the price of PS3 games are $59, which is the same as all the 360 games.

I work at a game store and those prices have been set ever since they announced each title. Games that are direct ports with not much worked on them will retail for 49 while brand new and popular games will obviously be more around the 59 end.

games

when i looked at Kotaku they said that ps3 games will cost 100$ due to development cost. but the games are only 60$. thouse dam xbots they just dont quit. developer have already made a price tag. so nomatter what some site says, I can always come back to this artical.

Supposedly FEAR is $49.99

I was looking on Amazon and found pre-orders for FEAR on PS3 for $49.99. http://www.amazon.com/Vivendi-Games-72586-F-E-A-R/dp/B000HKMPVA/sr=8-8/qid=1159321725/ref=sr_1_8/002-7179853-2863221?ie=UTF8&s=videogames It also shows a release date of 11/14/06. I'm not sure if the listing is correct or not, so take it with a grain of salt.

maybe. its all still a speculation here... im hoping $60, maybe $70 if they HAVE to. anything more is definetly suicide for sony.

Thats a grip

I own a psp and was looking forward to the ps3 psp compatability. But with a 500 dollar price tag and 60 dollar games i said "F* this, i'm getting the wii" you can't go wrong with mario and zelda with smash bros and mario party. With old school downloads, backward compatible and GC controller compatible AND extra controllers only 20 bucks? One of my friends is bound to get ps3 down the road. With a system, a game, and at least one extra controller i'd be looking at around 750 bucks to BEGIN. With the Wii i could be at 350 with an extra controller, zelda, few downloads like mario64 and goldeneye, and maybe a GC game. Forget sony they're committing suicide.
