PlayStation 3 Flow Rebuilder 3.50 with ECC Gen Released - Image 1It's a huge day for the PlayStation 3 homebrew scene. Developer NDT has released the PlayStation 3 Rebuilder v3.50, which lets you unscramble the blocks of a PS3 dump to make them readable and extractable. It even allows you to re-scramble it.

One can only speculate as to how this would affect the PlayStation 3 homebrew scene from here. Here's the readme from NDT.

PS3 NAND FLOW REBUILDER v3.50 (including ECC Algo by RPS).

This tool allows to unscramble the blocks of a PS3 dumps ordering them in a way that the dumps become readable and extractable!

It also allow you to re-scramble back to the original order once you modified the data you wants, then from now on it include the ECC recalculation algorithm that was private until today.

It's for study and tests purposes, for experienced people only (devs) that this way can manage the files inside the flashes and patch sensible areas.

In this updated version you'll find some good news:

1) You can now re-scramble back a modified dump in order to flash it in your console (ECC regeneration is now included).

2) Analyzer has some more informations (it's still alpha, i use it for debug, it's complete only for versions 2.40/2.41).

3) It automatically extract EID file in its own modules.

4) It show the (eventual) differences between the 2 bootloaders files

5) Save Console Attributes log file in the Log dump folder.

6) Support the 80 Gb Nand Dump extraction for study purpose (nand model is different and is one chip only).

USAGE:

- UNSCRAMBLE & INTERLEAVE FLASHES / RESCRAMBLE & DEINTERLEAVE FLASHES -

First of all select if you want to unscramble or re-scramble your dump.

The first option is the first you have to use, it unscramble your flashes and interleave them in order to obtain a readable and extractable dump.

Once you modified the unscrambled dump (you can swap files or change some data) the second one allow you to deinterleave the flashes rescrambling them as the original ones are (otherwise dump won't work).

- BYTE REVERSE AND EXTRACT AN 80GB DUMP FILE -

Our very own Courier dumped a 80Gb Flash yet! It's completly different from a 40/60 Gb dump, it's already interleaved.

With this option you can extracte the kernel files from this kind of dumps.

- FILE SELECTION -

"Flash 0" (TOP): Is the flash0 dump file, warning, many USA dumps use the way around names, so if your dump is USA you should try to load Flash1 here instead.

"Flash 1" (BOTTOM): Is the flash1 dump file, warning, many USA dumps use the way around names, so if your dump is USA you should try to load Flash0 here instead.

OUTPUT (INTERLEAVED) file: It's the interleaved file that the tool produce using the UNSCRAMBLE option.

INPUT (INTERLEAVED) file: It's the modified interleaved file from witch the tool rebuild the new flashes (0/1) that you need reflash on PS3.

- ANALYZER -

It's the option that add to the log what's contained in the flashes blocks, the info is in this format:

0000000000.00.01.120.15140.00000#0249 | 00000000.0.1.78.3B24.0000 ==> File-System Root

On the Left there is the OOB block unique data, on the right (after the ==>) there is the analysis, so what the block contains.

It's fully working only for dump versions 2.40/2.41 and it's very slow, it's an alpha debug option.

- GENERATE NEW ECC -

Using the Option "Re-scramble modified dump then de-interleave it into two new flashes." you can enable this flag, so the new modified and rescrambled flashes will have ECC fixed (thanks to RPS for the Algo).

- FORCE BAD BLOCKS ECC CALCULATION -

This option shouldn't be checked unless you know what you're doing!

PS3 don't expect the ECC of a bad block to be good, it's safer to keep it as it is.

- GENERATE AMOXIFLASH DIFF FILE -

Bushing is working on a feature for Amoxiflash (a tool to flash nands fo Wii, XBOX360 and PS3) that will allow you to flash only the differences from the original flash file.

This will allow you to save time while trying some ps3 hacks attempts :-)

INSTALL NOTE:

This tool need the .net framework 2.0 in order to work: most computers should have it installed yet, by the way here is the link in case you wonder where to get it:

microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en

NOTE:

ECC calculation (Algo by our very own RPS *you mate rocks!* ), is included in the tool this time, have fun pathing your firmware.

Stand-Alone tool (PS3NANDECC v1.30) was included in order to be used separately if you wish; The Algorithm is the same for Debug and Retail consoles.

###BEWARE: you need the external power addition to your Infectus mod in order to use it! Otherwise it's to risky, if you patch something bad your console won't boot anymore.###

And a huge thanks to NDT for sending in the tip!

If this means the PS3 is about to get Pirated games, then this could be the end of the PS3.

I sure as hell hope that they never get as far as Pirated games, or that Sony somehow locks down on this.

I'm all for Homebrew games and software, but you know what follows homebrew....

I don't think it'll get to that. Blueray ISOs can much larger then DVD ISO's and even still it would require swapping out the HD on your PS3 for a larger one so I can store both the ISO and the installed game data. Not everyone has a blueray burner yet as its not affordable yet ($300+ for a blueray burner). By the time user made bluerays become affordable the PS3 would have evolved alot farther. Compressing blueray ISOs are also not very useful considering the amount of lossless video/audio/textures stored on them is already compressed. The PS3 is not as convenient as the PSP is for pirating plane and simple.

What I am looking forward to is seeing some open source games getting ported or the hypervisor unlocked so the linux devs can get a RSX driver going.

piracy on the ps3, definitely wont effect it till blueray bruners lower in price, also done forget all the holographic things nintendo is looking into, aswell as the terabyte disc

so it might never hit, until what 20 years, by then it will probably be effected

even when it does hit, it wont hit much, people WILL NOT download games, unless something unbelievable happens in the recent future to the infrastructure of the internet, it would probably be swapped between mates etc

I hope this will also lead to bypassing the hyperviser for RSX access to the PS3. With that done, it can actually be used like a real computer, all for just $400 (assuming you get one at the price).

first of all br isos are wayto big and 2nd of all if what u say is true about piracy than Xbox 360 would be dead.. usually the iso of a 360 game are up on the internet days before the actual release of the game. also the WII"s isos are on the web for download before they get released and the NDS is the same so by what you are saying all the video game systems besides PS3 should be dead. unless all the sales charts for the last months are false than what you say is just BS ;)

An easy way to brick your very own PS3 in a Do-It-Yourself manner.

Nah people will download games. Its just a matter of convenience and cost effectiveness. Currently an ISO loader is out of the question because it would require modifying the PS3 hardware which only die hard pirates will do. Currently Blueray burners are out of the question because of the cost of the burner + blank media. Plus the downloads are pretty big so someone with option one would need alot of HD space on their computer to store the ISO's as well. Basically it's neither convenient nor cost effective yet to pirate on the PS3.

I don't understand how do you say it will be doomed

PS1 ----> Hacked (102 Million Units Sold)

PS2 ----> Hacked (140 Million Units Sold)

PSP ----> Hacked (41 Million Units Sold)

Wii ----> Hacked (31 Million Units Sold)

NDS ----> Hacked (75 Million Units Sold)

Xbox 360----> Hacked (22 Million Units Sold)

But my favorite console the .....ps3 (15 Million Units Sold)

So in short ALL THE CONSOLE WILL ***** THE PS3 IF IT'S NOT HACKED in my opinion it will boost in sales if it's hacked let's face reality people you think all people buy games 59.99$ a game NO !!! ur wrong they don't....well not that i do buy pirated games but others do..... Hello World FTW !!!!!

Dreamcast emulator ahoy!!! :D

Would be awesome if someone made an Xbox Emu for it too. I think that pirating games is pretty much useless on the PS3 considering what it would cost.

What we really want is emulators! :D

I want a Dreamcast Emu the most so that i can play Shenmue straight of a USB stick. :D

Way to big my ass... The only huge game I can put my finger on is MGS4 and that's due (mainly) to the audio tracks... Huge huh? Explain why Burnout is a mere 3,5gb then? Ah ha!

Don't talk about stuff you have no knowledge about. Common sense.

# You aren't going to get pirated games anyways...arishay 2008-10-05 18:04
Also, the RSX Chip is locked and isn't available by LAW. If it we were to get a driver for it, it wouldn't be available for very long, and trying to find it would become difficult within the first few hours of release because sony and nvidia would threaten to drop the biggest lawsuit of the century over the makers' heads. As far as the whole pirated games thing goes, they are far too large to be reasonable for download. Mostly. There are a few select games that aren't too big for download, but for the most part--these blockbusters are not the same thing as PC games. They are mostly uncompressed textures, audio and data. The filler space, i'm not sure about. Similar to ISO files for PC or PSP, Blu-Ray might have the same theory so the whole 40gb thing isn't going to be the same issue. Do you honestly want to download a 40GB file, then process it down to the playable format? You COULD use an external HDD since this technology is feasable and the ps3 uses universal serial bus ports. But, yea, thats my thoughts.
