PlayStation 3 Firmware 2.1 on the way - Image 1A little more than a week back, PlayStation 3 Firmware 2.0 went live (along with some features that were not included in the press releases). Earlier today, PlayStation Network Operations' Director, Eric Lempel announced that the newest system software update will be coming soon.

The announcement was really just a quick heads up that the PlayStation 3 Firmware 2.01 will be coming in a few days. According to the blog post, 2.01 is "a minor update that will improve the stability of PLAYSTATION 3."

Keep checking back for more news and info regarding this.

lol

this is bull crap. I owned my uk ps3 since launch and I don't have any problems with fw 2.0 with any of my games. Last 3 games I bought were pes08, cod4 and assassins creed. Cod4 and ac r running at 1080p no problem with no frame drop or lag or freezing.
by anonamoose - 2007-11-16 21:14:40
I call BS

the highest supported resolution for AC is 720p. Does your TV automatically upconvert everything to 1080P?
by torres1944 - 2007-11-16 22:27:09
yeah

AC supports 720p and 1080i
by code2006 - 2007-11-16 22:29:20
ac 1080p

I have a 1080p tv. I unticked the 720p and 1080i box on the ps3 settings. On the ac box it says pal 720p but my tv is playing it at 1080p with 720p and 1080i unticked. But games like pes08, rfom ECT will play at 576p with just 1080p ticked or 720p if I have 720p, 1080i/p ticked. I'm not sure y ac is playing at 1080p but if u want proof like video or pics that's no problem

well...

the firmware have two problems and are the freeze up and with the remote start thing... maybe this update will fiz the remote start and about the freeze thing just turn off the message board and everything will be ok... now.. in game freeze I never experimented that in my PS3

CODE

You are so clueless (like so many PS3 users) If the game DOES NOT SUPPORT 1080P and the PS3 DOES NOT HAVE a scalling chip....then guess what....it's not 1080p....no matter what your TV supports.... Try again buddy....Sony doesn't release firmware (especially .01 upgrades) without a reason.....as .01 upgrade is fixing random bugs and crashes....which 2.00 introduced.....admit it and get over it...

Shatterdome

Common man stop talking to people like that! They'll never take you seriously...especialy if you are proven 360 fanboy...

I think that Shatterdome is wrong

If I remember correctly right after the ps3 came out people were mad because the ps3 would not up scall to 1080i but it would up scall to 1080p. So i think that code2006 is correct.
by RommelTJ - 2007-11-17 09:57:30
I agree

Yeah man. I actually agree with Shatterdome on this one, but why does he always have to be an ***. I wonder if he has any friends. Like the song says: Why can't we be friends?, Why can't we be friends?, Why can't we be friends?, Why can't we be friends?

ok

my tv does not upscale to 1080p and the ps3 does not upscale to 1080p but here is a pic. look at the top of my screen it says 1920x1080 /60hz http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/3682/17112007040yl6.jpg http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/7264/17112007039rh4.jpg when i play somethink thats 1080i it says 1920x1080i. all my 1080p games and bluray films play at 1920x1080 /60hz

Hey Shatterdome

Do you have a PS3? If you do, why are you so hateful towards it; why did you buy one in the first place? That comment shows immature you are. Please grow up and leave your crappy attitude out of the forums. No one wants to be around someone with an attitude like that and I'm sure many people would agree with me on that. Get over it, dude.
by BTR711 - 2007-11-17 14:22:53
ha!

i still have not had any problems with anything since launch, like some guy said, if the game does not suport 1080p then your ps3 will not upscale it, im sick of people thinking that it upscales..
by BRAV04 - 2007-11-17 14:40:41
Why are u guys being stuiped god

the problems the ps3 has ben having is all because Number one i love PSN but one problem its CHEAP we all wanted to update are PS3 right soo we all downloaded it all at once soo instead getting all the DATA dll. we had every one download it at once and it backed up the server, when i updated to 2.00 i couldnt go on PSN for hours soo because every one was downloading it. it has nothing to do with the TV its just the system messed up by every one downloading at once and backed up the server, sooo stuiped TV's who cares just be happy u can play the game. oh by the way the UK has diffrent chip ps3 thats why only people in amercia are complaining UK STFU

by code2006 - 2007-11-17 22:36:56
upscale

the ps3 can only upscale dvd and ps2 games ATM. It can't upscale ps3 games but ac says 720p on the box but my tv is playing it at 1080p but I'm not complaining. Now psn I like. Ps3 games online r lag free for me and I quite enjoy cod4 online when get time to play it

The fact is

Shatter doesn't even own a PS3 thats why he's bashing it. MCS got one and turned a new leaf. he obviously never bought one and making false claims that he has. Every PS3 owner i know who has the system has nothing but praise for the system, and MCS is living proof of the new leaf. We don't get with this fanboy^^ So all in all he never has or will get one, since he's a pro-xbox fanboy who loves $ss kissing MS.
