Playstation 3 Backwards Compatibility Status site

Now you can check on what PlayStation and Sony.">PS2 games are fully compatible with the PS3 with Sony's new PS3 backwards compatibility website. Although we have already informed you of the giant backward compatibility status list a few days ago, this site makes it much easier to find out if your games will work with your brand new PS3. After Sony admitted to the problem with PS3 backwards compatibility and released the status list, this website was obviously the next step to helping the otherwise happy PS3 owners out there.

The website allows you to easily search for PSone games, PS2 games, or other games for both, so you get to check which games will work on your PS3. It not only tells you whether it works or not but why it doesn't work, or what elements of the game do work.

For example, as we identified earlier, Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria had some problems on boot up on the PS3. The site tells us that "upon boot-up, the introductory FMV plays accompanied by an intermittent static noise at random points during playback" in the game, which according to out tests is correct. The site should be updated as Sony attempts to resolve these backward compatibility issues.

the ones i tried were GTA (all work) Ace combat (all work) amplitude and guitar hero all the gundam games all the .hack games. all the metal gears. all the need for speeds.its 2 billion % more backwards compatible then my stupid 360. and my 360's backwards compatability is sketchy murakumo works but wont save which is anoying.

this is my take:

I owned a 360 and bought a ps3....

i still own my xbox and my ps2, so i dont give a shznit about backwards compatabilty!!

Resistance?? it was the only title i liked and it LOOKED good. but when i got it??!! hahahahahahaha! !

it was one of the most crappiest games...especially for "nexgen"

the sixaxis sucks...feels light and cheap!!

AND...NO RUMBLE!! SORRY SONY, but you fell very backwards on this PS3.

i may sound like a 360 fanboy, bbut im really not...

i own all systems and enjoy what they can give...

im just sayin though...if i had one choice between ps3 and 360...i would get the 360. WHY??!! because of the GAMES!! NO GIMMICKS NEEDED!! no tilt this, swing that...just plain and simple fun!!

Agreed. This is definitely longer than 360's backward compatibility list.

Oh wait, I am pretty sure the 360's list is the only game that works vs. 200 games out of 2000 games of ps2.

that is 90% compatibility still. pretty good to me.

Sure, and how many of the 200 or so games that have problems do you own, and keyword is problems, they can still be played on the PS3.

So technically the PS3 has 99% BC. Since HDD games dont work as of now. Of the 250+ titles that are working on the Xbox360, more then half of them have technical glitches and problems too.

i looked through with about half my games. and only found that tomb raider has a problem with the game jaming if you leave it alone at the main screen for about 15 minutes, think to yourself for a minute that atleast thay worked hard to make this list up for us, and that with firmware updates thay can fix the bugs. i can't stand that 360 people have to come on here and brag about how it was all a lie that it would work 100% if you ask me i think thay did pretty dam good, not 100% (yet) but atleast thay didin't give 30% or somthing

Its in the ps3 manual, and with linux you can run almost everything.

FREE ONLINE +idiots. cheap connections.cheap servers.xbox live have a better service..can invite my friends to a game when they playing a different game..keep the same kool tag for everygame.and to make up for the free you pay more for stuff like arcade games and downloads..and also some developers gonna ask you to pay indivisually to pay for those maps and patches they making.a lot more....

MOTION SENSOR+i actually think its a good idea but without no rumble thats a TOTAL turnoff..i dont care what u say but five years of playing with rumble couldnt go back to cavemen days and these games are getting more real and rumble is needed explain playing a shooting game with no rumble or a driving game especially when these games now are hiding the life huds from the screen for more realism they use the rumble feature to tell you when you low on life warn you of danger and MORE.and the six asix will be use the same way over and over again but still a step forward,loss of rumble major step back.

HARDRIVE:if they where stupid enough to buy a harddrive there business..next

PSP:sorry.i forgot every ps3 owner have a psp..and i also forgot how useful connecting my gameboy was to my gamecube..next

swap harddrive:360 hardrive is detachable to swap a new one,,more sizes are coming in the future and the prices of the old will drop..next

first gen better then second:three words more development time.they probably working on fight night round 4 for 360 while they still working on fight round 3 for ps3 at the end round three will look like round 4...it wont make sense to you but key word more time..

homebrew:unlike yall we dont have to worry about firmware upgrades cause we have the right to make homebrew xna...thirdly ps3 wont be like psp sony will have a sronger security plus all those fimware upgrades from games.online play.and browser will keep homebrew developers low.out of space

i was starting to respect u....but i seen that u dont even have a ps3!! so its pretty much what u have read instead of trying for yourself? like isaid, i have all consoles...PS3 didnt really wow me...no rumble, and the controllers feel very light and cheap. I dont care about movies, and all of these other things..harddrives, processors..blah, and blah..i just like the damn games!! and as for the free online for 360..my bad, i paid $50 bucks and enjoyed it for a year!! i even forgot that i paid...$50 bucks?? aint ***** to me.

well. in short...now that i have both( ps3 and 360), i can compare. and if i knew back then what i know now...i would stick with 360.
