Playing favorites: Final Fantasy XIII to be best FF game ever |

"Snow, do you think I can live up to Cloud Strife's main character-ness?"
"I dunno about you, Lightning. All I know is I look like Seifer."
"Yeah, whatever. I'm the one with the Gunblade here, honey."
What's your favorite Final Fantasy game? And compared to that question, lemme ask another slightly different one: what do you think is the best of the franchise? Best in terms of sales and worldwide reception, of course.
FF series producer Yoshinori Kitase answers both of these questions, and when asked about what he thinks of Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360), he stated that he's "convinced it will be the best Final Fantasy game." Alright, that's cool.
When asked about his favorite FF game of all time, it seems that FF VII wins his heart on a more personal and sentimental level, with Cloud Strife and Sephiroth being his favorite FF characters. Since Kitase was able to work directly for FF7's development, it remains to be the achievement he's most proud of.
Square Enix's Kitase continues, speaking to VideoGamer, with:
I've been involved with the Final Fantasy series since Final Fantasy 5. In those days Final Fantasy had not recorded such remarkable success abroad, outside Japan. Probably after VII, maybe it became a really strong title globally, and that situation hasn't changed up to now. Now other Final Fantasy games are widely played globally by lots of people.
OK sometimes we receive quite critical comments from players, as well as nice comments! But that kind of situation, how widely it is played across the world, would have been completely unimaginable. That is something I am very proud of.
Well, with Final Fantasy XIII being released on two platforms (outside of Japan, at least), then yes, I can see how it will be enjoyed by a bigger chunk of the gaming market globally. Though I don't want to put words into his mouth, that's what I think Kitase is trying to communicate here.

my fav is not cloud
is squall
love him, his the best
i consider cloud, terra, and squall the best heroes of the ff series hmmm i wonder if cloud will make a cameo in this game you know like in ff tactics for psx
I hate cameos. But with the characters that I've seen for this game I guess I wouldn't mind. I hate the characters in this game.
Yeah, actually, I liked Squall. Color me weird though, I liked Laguna best. Don't ask me why, but I thought he was fun.
My top 3 favorite FF games are FF8, 9 and 12 in no particular order. When I first saw the characters for 12 I thought they looked terrible but then I played the game and loved it. I'm getting better vibes from these characters and hopefully this game has a story that is as unique as 12's storyline was (broke away from the cliche's in many ways).
