Q-Games president Dylan Cuthbert has laid out some co-op gameplay details for PixelJunk Shooter, the next PS3 iteration in the studio's PixelJunk series of games.

One of the things Q-Games has focused on for PixelJunk Shooter has been making the co-op mode as "de-stressed" as possible, and so they've added in a feature that lets you save your companion's ship if they get in some trouble.

If your companion's ship gets hit or overheats, you can save them by grabbing their ship with an extendable hook and dunking it in water. Doing this will restore your companion's health. If you don't manage to save his ship in time, he'll still re-spawn near you but you lose a life in the process.

As the name suggest, PixelJunk Shooter is a shooter game at heart, so there are giant bosses, multiple weapons and power-ups. There are also some puzzle elements that revolve around the sandbox fluid simulation (which look amazing, by the way).

PixelJunk Shooter doesn't have a fixed release date yet, but Cuthbert hopes that it won't be too far off. Maybe later this year? Keep checking back here for more details.
