Phone book found inside PS3 box from EB Games |
Ó
Saying Christmas is the time for surprises is no understatement for 13-year old Brandon Burns from Thousand Oaks, who unboxed what appeared to be a Sony PlayStation 3 only to find a phone book. The package was bought from EB Games for the full price of US$ 500.According to Fox News, Brandon wasn't particularly upset. The young man laughed about what he discovered inside the box, but his parents weren't very happy. Brandon's folks are planning to keep the phone book and the PS3's box, then take the receipt to the Thousand Oaks mall where they made the purchase.
The Burns were at least able to get the copies of Skate and Pirates of the Caribean: At World's End that were supposed to be Brandon's first games. For now, here's to hoping they can also claim the console they paid a good amount of money for.

xD that would be funny untill you figure out you didnt get your ps3...
Open the damn box at the check-out! Last time I bought a Wii and PS3, I did literally messed up the check-out counter full of protective cardboards from inside the box. The check-out counter staff can not argue with me cause my reason is it does not say in their store policy that I can not open it AFTER I paid for it. And I assured the lady that I will pick-up all the mess so she need not to worry. I am just making sure that I won't get anything bogus.
Hopefully they don't handle the phone book much as to not disturb the possible fingerprints left behind. If someone did that to me I would hunt them down to the ends of the Earth.
there is a easy way to check if you have a system on the box or not just check for the 2nd bar-code the one that isn't printed on the box .That is the system serial code.
They could use the phonebook to find a lawyer!
The Bums were bummed. :P
Something tells me that this could have been an accident, not a gimmick pulled by a store employee or whatever to get a free ps3. I have the feeling that some retard right now has read this and found a broken ps3 where their phonebook used to be.
C'mon people, does it really take a rocket scientist to figure out that the boys parents simply took the PS3 out of the box and replaced it with a phonebook to get there $500 bucks back?
