Pelican's PS3 USB adapter: compatible with PS2's GH controllers |
Ó
Around January of this year, accessories manufacturer Pelican came up with PS3 Pro Cooler (a gadget that aims to keep our PlayStation 3 units from overheating). However, it received a lukewarm reaction the gaming community because of reports concerning defective third-party cooling accessories.Anyway, here's another product from the company and at first glance, it does look promising. It's a USB thingamajig and some of its key features include:
- It's made by Pelican and has a 5-year warranty. Pelican will replace or repair your console if a Pelican product damages it.
- It has a "PS Home" button on it and four red LEDs to indicate controller number.
- Guitar Hero 1 and 2 Ready: Plug in your favorite guitar and rock out to Guitar Hero 1 and 2 on your PS3.
- It doesn't support rumble.
If you manage to get hold of one of this and you still have your old guitar controller, why not give it a shot and tell us about the results.

for you f@gs that play that g*y game
barnes and noble has this for 4.99, funny too becuase they get them via gamestop same exact item number and they sell theirs for 14.99. I do not have either GH but I got mine for my DDR pad, still waiting for it
According to reviews, this does *not* work with GH1 and 2. I was all set to order it, until I read that part. :(
Guitar Hero 2 works with my XBOX 360, as does Dance Revolution. :)
Not really related to this adapter, but...
Do y'all remember after Guitar Hero II came out, some of the wireless controllers wouldn't work with it, and then someone came out with an adapter to fix that? Well couldn't that adapter be used along with a USB adapter that works with GHI to make it work with GHII?
I'd try it, but....you try it
not an issue of wireless guitars just doesnt work with the games in general.
im sure it does on your precious little sexbox 690. who plays gh2 anyways. why dont you buy a REAL guitar so you can rock to REAL music.
any chance that this works with a computer i mean its just a usb port connecter and if it dosnt come with any drivers it should be plug and play right?
Yesterday I was looking for a PS2 wireless controller and I got the "DragonPlus DuoShock3 2.4GHz Wireless" that not only works perfectly with the PS2 (including the vibration function), but it also has a PS2-to-USB adapter that makes it compatible with my PS3 and my PC. It costs €30.00 and I'm very pleased with it.
It says it works with GH1 and 2 directly on the box. I think you're thinking of the earlier USB adapters that didn't have the "home" button.
Does anybody know if this adapter will work with Beatmania?
lol Mister Common Sense
gh 2 wworks with your 360 because it was built for 360
douche
The one on Barnes and Noble's site is their old version for $4.99. that one doesn't have the PSHome button... sorry dude.
For wireless guitars it flat out WILL NOT WORK.
For the standard guitars, there is a switch that must be pressed on the adapter to switch between gameplay and menus, otherwise the controls will not work on either situation.
When you are properly set for gameplay, the key-presses are slowed and are not configured properly. All the buttons are confused.
It does however work flawlessly with whatever other controllers.
So if I have the old adaptor, what should I do with it?
Bought one today. This thing works with my setup: GH1 original SG (wired) controller and v1 PS3 (the one with the hardware emotion engine chip). I cannot attest to wireless controller functionality nor GH2 functionality, though I'm getting GH2 w/wireless guitar soon and will post my results.
It is a little fiddly (e.g. has several "modes" for menu navigation, play configuration, and separate setting for GH2 vs GH1) but it does work.
