Pachter: This holiday will wake up to sleeper hit, Brutal Legend |
Ó
Said Pachter, "I think this is going to be the sleeper hit of the holiday season. When I say that I mean a couple million units, so it's not going to be Gears of War type numbers." He also expressed his belief that it will be a profitable game, and that although it maybe more on the niche side, Jack Black's involvement in the game makes it more accessible to the masses.
And because of all this mention of Jack Black, here's a little, mellow Jack treat for those who have yet to appreciate the artist that he is. No, really. Seriously. Let's get it on.
You would have never guessed, would you?

Waiting for this one to go cheap. Demo was alright but didn't feel that great and it came across as a bit 'last-gen' to me. So yeah when it's about £20 I might get it if only for the music and that pretty cool main menu. And the girl is cute for a video game character.
Yeah it was aight. It just confirmed my suspicions; it's going to be a game I enjoy because of it's writing and humor, more over than it's gameplay.
Even just the demo... I was unimpressed by the fighting mechanics, more over I was in awe at the settings, jokes and writing that I got to experience.
I've got other titles I'm going to be playing right now, so BL will have to wait, but maybe not for long... it may just be one of those titles I throw onto my christmas wish list ;)
Pachter: "SLEEPER HIT OF THE SEASON!!!!!" .... "Well, maybe ..kinda. ...I'm not so sure y'know. Maybe just a couple million units. Not Hit-hit. Just a SLEEPER HIT!!!"
--What an overpaid idiot.
"Halo will sell well, GTA will sell well"
DURDURDUR
Ridiculous that Pachter makes more per year than 98% of people. He never says anything intelligent or that isn't obvious
My ears! MY EARS BLEED!!!!!! Why they want to do that to us?!
Actually the writing put me off a bit, as did the 'jokes' and Jack Black himself. But the whole heavy metal theme of it and the fact it's by Tim Schafer who created my favorite PC game of all time Full Throttle I want to buy it and play it just to support that.
After I played the demo I was skeptical as well. But after playing the full game, it is clear that the demo barely scrapes the top of what this game is. All it covers are the basic attacks and some driving. It is so much more than just that.
To sum it all up I'd say this game is a mix of Zelda-ish game design (think instead of an ocarina, you have an electric guitar, and instead of Epona, you have a hot-rod, and instead of Hyrule, you're in this freakish Metal-Hyrule), with Pikmin-type RTS gameplay and the story of a well written Jack Black movie. I don't even like JB that much and I find my self laughing my ass off throughout the game.
