Pachter: PS3 price cut "looking more and more likely" |

Following reports of PS3 stock starting to become pretty scarce in the UK, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has thrown in what could be more corroborating evidence of a price cut for the Sony console.
Speaking in a recent VG247 podcast, Pachter said that Japanese retailers are in a situation similar to the one retailers in the UK are experiencing:
ItÂ’s looking more and more likely based on what weÂ’ve heard from retail.
The retail commentary IÂ’ve seen has come out of the UK. I have not seen at US retail. We heard Japanese retail a few weeks ago say they werenÂ’t going to be getting any more PS3s after August 8, and now weÂ’re starting to hear UK retail say they cannot re-order PS3s until month-end.
And that suggests thereÂ’ll be a model change.
If SonyÂ’s practice is the same as it was in the past, and the Slim is more of a redesign of the components to drive down cost, then I think we will get a price cut.
The PS3 price cut is widely believed to be made public at GamesCom in Cologne on Tuesday.

Like $10 price reduction? Cute? :)
I kinda feel that this wasn't FULLY reported on, becuase FYE has a poster that will be posted in stores for a $100 reduction in both 80GB adn 160 models toward the end of the month so I would say its pretty offical and pretty much lowered. http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=5301&pictureid=8784 Too bad I just got the console 4 weeks ago and FYE doesn't exist near me anymore.
They're trying to make the price cute now? Will it come with a free teddy bear? I love you guys, QJ. You guys brought cool back to typos. Man, I hope Sony hurries up and just does the price drop. I'm not complaining about it like I want it to happen pronto because I've had my PS3 for a year and a half. Just tired of hearing about it already.
The longer they wait to cut it, the longer people will wait until it drops. "You gonna buy that PS3 this week?" "Nah, mang, gonna wait for the cut."
yeah but since people been complaining about price for so long... look what happens, they remove crap out of the console.. put in a bigger HDD and sell it. Now the PS3 'slim' will probably come out and be gutted like crazy. I never complained about the price.. I love all the features I have with the PS3 and it was well worth its $599 price tag IMHO (this is my opinion, and no I dont have money to spend.. I drained my account clean buying this. Its been well worth it though)
I got my PS3 60g version the day it came out and the Price was well worth it, I would hate to get a Cut up lower Quality version like the 20g,40g, or Newer versions with things taken out.
A price is likely to happen, it's not official yet. Unless Sony comes out and says it from their mouths, it's all speculation and rumor at this point. My best guess though is Sony is going to make a price cut come holiday season(Novemver-January) as that's the big time where people are spending cash crazily to get gifts for people. Hell, I'm even thinking of picking up another PS3 and give it as a gift to my cousin(or sister, haven't decided yet).
I had a 80g one. WAY too less space. I put in a 500g HDD. WAY better. :)
