Modern Warfare 2 vs. Assassin's Creed 2 - Image 1
Am'a getcha!!!

It's bound to be neck-to-neck, what with two big titles coming out this holiday season. But as with all competition, only one will win. For Michael Pachter, it's gotta be Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, and PC) over Assassin's Creed II (PS3, Xbox 360, and PC) in the battle of the holiday sequels.

Featured in the latest GameTrailers Bonus Round Episode, Pachter is heard saying:

The game I think that gets hurt by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is this game. I think there's a lot of overlap of people who played both of those games. And if you have only US$ 60 to spend, the one you'll not buy is Assassin's Creed II.

I dunno about that so much. I mean, Ezio will be the one getting some after all. Surely that's got to make your 60 bucks count, right?

Despite this grim forecast, however, he reiterates that ACII will still manage to sell quite well, if compared to the original.

Two-thirds of the guys who bought it last time will buy it this time. So that's four million. And then a bunch of new console owners who never played the first one will buy it. So it will do comparable or better than the last one.

Modern Warfare 2 comes out November 10th, while Assassin's Creed II comes out November 17th.

» tss I could do that

well, duuuh! I bet COD4 sold more than AC1, and all the MW-fanboys will buy MW2 anyway, plus with all the hype, there will be new buyers too (and some of the people who just bought an console too).

Wouldn't be surprised if MW2 will be the best selling game this season.

I think I should search for a job like Pachter is doing.

» nice to know

that I'm not the only one who is sick about hearing about that game. :)

I wont get it. even if it gets 100 from every reviewer in the world. Just because I'm sick of it! MW2 here MW2 there... can't wait until there will be no news about it anymore!!! >:(

» GOSH!!!!

How could you know that?!?!?

Burn the witch!!!!!

Seriously, it was pretty obvious. Just look at the precorder charts on VGchartz. Modern Warfare 2 tops everything, both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Just about to say that i need to find his job..stating the obvious for a living must be awesome.

On another note tho i wont be buying MW2 as i find some of the better new titles are completely over shadowed. Brutal legend, Ratchet and clank , Fallout goty, God of war collection, and Uncharted 2 are much higher on my list.

there's definitely better titles on the list than MW2 for me too. At the end, it all depends on what the gamer wants. I wonder how much the sale difference going to be globally for these 2 games.

Bless. Can't cope with marketing.

Denying yourself a game you never played makes perfect sense!!!

» no demo !!!

Sure MW2 will have big sale , but why IW havent released yet a Demo isnt it 90% or 95% finished now , also infantry COD4 gamers will be disapointed since the story is on north america and its street fight hope im wrong , but if COD6 is bad we will simply play COD 4 another year
