Orb application bridges PS3, PC, and TV |
Ó
Also, users now can turn their PC into a personal broadcasting system as well as build and organize their own "channels" for their music, photos, video, TV, documents, and other extras. We all know that Sony, being its usual self, does not allow this kind of thingamajig with its different products. According to Orb Networks CEO Joe Castello:
The beauty of Orb is that works with any device, with a streaming media player and an Internet connection, so once we developed the pathway to connect the PC to the TV through the gaming console the rest was easy. The ability to watch YouTube videos and listen to music through Orb from your PC directly to your TV has been an eye-opener for people.
On a little side note, this same application has also been announced for the Wii a couple of weeks ago. Costello added that their decision to bring the application to the PS3 was brought about by the quick and positive response from Nintendo Wii users. So how exactly does Orb works with the PS3? Just follow these two simple steps after downloading the file below:
- Turn on your TV and pen the Web browser on your PS3.
- Using your controller, log onto your Orb account through PS3 at mycast.orb.com. That's it. Now enjoy, watch and listen to any digital content on your home PC - videos, music, Internet TV and radio or any other online content you programmed in your Orb MyCast application: they are now all airing on your TV screen.
- Windows XP (SP2) or Windows XP-Media Center Edition (2004 or 2005)
- AMD Athlon 3200+ processor or 2.4Ghz Intel Pentium* IV processor or equivalent (a slower processor may cause "stuttering" when streaming TV or videos)
- 512MB of RAM
- Broadband connection
- 100MB available disk space

What is his actual name? You've used "Castello" and "Costello" to refer to the same person.
Which one is it?
retarded QJ they get everything wrong, all they do it pass word along and get the credit. Most of there news is at least a Day out!
doesn't this application work by encoding your video/music files on your PC on the fly to flash, connect through orb's webserver to your PS3, and then view them? seems like it's a lot of trouble just to get to your tv...not to imagine what kind of lag there would be.
but i will definitely try it out first.
then ppl would be useing it if it lagged lol, it work really good
PS3 Internet Browser
TV: Video work but the sound isn't working
Audio: Sound isn't working
Picture: OK
Video: Video work but the sound isn't working
Document: Not supported
RSS Feed: Haven't done it yet
Setting: Stream via High Flash .swf file
when trying to make an account is anybody else getting:
"A connection with the server could not be established"
or does an AOL email not work?
wtf
This is really really COOL!
The interface is great, works decent through ps3's web browser.
i tried it out, and it works pretty good. mess with the browser display settings enough and you can pretty much get the video fullscreen.
the quality is decent and overall the application is very good. best of all it's free.
I tried it out. I like the layout. Everything looks great. But when i try to watch a video or music. It takes for ever. I actually dont know how long because after 30 minutes of waiting i just quit. Hope this gets better. What percentage should i have on my PS3 wireless connection???
Good idea but only set back is the 500mb limit, cant even put a movie on it
